That's a lot of experience we are losing.
That is something I find concerning and I hope our recruitment are looking at some other mature and experienced footballers to fill those spots.

Youth can be exciting, but as we have seen in past years, it is not reliable.

Worried about this too but I can the feeling there's a few more signings to come. Ikin seems a smart operator, has surprised me with how aware he is of our issues tbh...

Think there will be 1 huge signing as well. Not sure who, or even for when (maybe starting 2024) but just a feeling...

Just a thought. 1 cheap player I'd like us to go for is Matthew eisnheiuth from the panthers. 30 years old tall middle forward with 100 games of nrl under his belt who isn't making the top 17 there regularly. He's off contract, would be good price and he comes from a good system.

And maybe Elijah Taylor. Older yes, but cast experience and great defensively in the middle. Would definetly plug holes and likely cheap...

we have Reynolds, Capewell, jenson , Oates and Hoeter to a certain extent that are mature. Add in haas and Carrigan for ones with decent representative experience , so it really isn't that lacking.

What makes you think Tesi would be useful at 14?
First a process of elimination.

1. He's proven useless under the high ball. Which rules him out of fullback and wing.
2. He can't organize defence. Not a fullback.
3. His defence reading in general is suspect, particularly fast moving opponents. He's not a centre, wing or fullback
4. There's little to suggest he's a 6 or 7, so let's not even consider that.
5. There's little to suggest he's a starting 9, so let's not even consider that.

That leaves his only chance of making an NRL team is to reinvent himself as a utility.

So why might he be good there?

1. He has great passing game, a blistering turn of pace and an elusive step from a standing start, more suited to the middle than at the back.
2. He can find the line.
3. He's strong and reportedly a hard trainer in the gym.

It's just a matter of him proving he can defend there. That means large slower moving opponents over and over. Something we haven't seen him do. That's up to him. Bearing in mind, he's there as an attack weapon, not a tacklebot.

Speaking of Hunt, once again he was elite in the PM's XIII game. He is a genuine gun 9. He's top two in the game when he plays there.
A bit like Kodi Nikorima. I thought he was the best 14 in the game when we let him go. But he had other ideas. Now he's playing there for Souths. Another handy mid season transfer we could've snapped up but stuck with Turpin and Walters.

I agree your first 5 points, and that he shouldn't be in first grade. I don't see any value in him being on the bench. The only time I could see it being useful is if we are chasing quick points, and bring him on at 13. If the game is in the balance, there's no way you could bring him on the field.

100%. Im leaning closer to letting Tesi go early than letting him in the side. Only value he has in this joint now is depth and keeping Reece honest and working hard.

I'm putting a line through him in any other position unless he spends a lot of games in the Cup proving he's a centre. I wouldn't consider him at fullback again, even as depth.

He's on our books for 2023, and is a heck of a lot more dangerous ball in hand than Paix and Walters, so if the preseason can reinvent him into anything other than a turnstile, I'm all for it. Otherwise, for sure, offload him to the Warriors or Knights.

Reece should be looking over his shoulder at Herbie and Selwyn.

completely agree i really hope he can get some consistency on the field, he could be a similar 9 to ben hunt imo
Yup, totally agree. Paix needs to play regular grade games consistently, confidently and injury free.

If he had a very good preseason where he masters the evasiveness of a modern day 9, he might turn to be a decent 9 for us. If he does this the next year consistently week in week out, he could turn out be a younger version of 2022 Origin Ben Hunt for us in 2024 & beyond.
