A win, but respect to the Dolphins really.
Considering their misfortune with injury they did really well. We competed well enough but kept letting them in the game. That try with a forward charge, cobbos brain fade letting the ball bounc, and numerous bad play-the-balls and spine plays gone awry.
It looked like we'd get to an advantage then relax.
I think our backs in particular need some hard truths. They were chasing easy outcomes all to often. Walsh often pulls off something spectacular and he wasnt bad but has a habit of rolling the dice a little too often.
I dont want to crush that enthuiasm because it more often than not works but being a little more circumspect on those late plays would take him to another level.
I thought mam looked like he was a little uncomfortable out there.
Apart from his goalkicking (they were hard though), i thought reynolds was good and probably was the difference.
Carrigan played well but his ball play (like the rest of the side) was off. Haas was phenominal and all the forwards play well up against a quality pack.
Cobbo needs some hard truths told after that game but it can wait for Monday. Kevie might remind him origin rep players dont let a ball bounce that close to the line (and remain origin players for long)
We all make mistakes but that was careless and put huge pressure on his team mates.
Billy had a few bad play-the balls as dummy half and paix was pretty quiet, but i put it down to pressure from the dolphins rushing defence.
I suspect kevie will have a few set plays close to the ruck and perhaps some more short grubbers behind the line. We were caught out but i got the impression a grubber set play close to the posts would open them up (especially tackle 4) too.
Another ugly win but still a win and they all count.
