How much is too much for Payne? The saga continues...

What is the maximum per year you would offer Haas?

Wasn't Haas 20 in 2020? So expecting him to have changed clubs three times and have helped them to win premierships by the ripe old age of 23 is stupid.
He also wasn’t at his best as Tallis claims. This year I believe he is at his best, with an offload finally part of his game. Tallis is talking as though his form has been dipping.

That's not at all what he said, Tallis said Lazo changed results- won three teams their first comp- he changed clubs.

Is Haas going to do that? You don't have to play like Lazo you need to change clubs/results like Lazo.

But Tallis is not convinced Haas is worth more than what the Broncos are already willing to pay him.

“There’s no Glenn Lazarus in him,” Fox Sports and NRL 360 co-host Tallis said of Haas.

“I’ve watched him (Haas) really closely.

“When he was at his best, and close to winning the Dally M, the Broncos got the wooden spoon (in 2020).

“As good as Payne Haas is, and he’s an unbelievable player, it’s about changing the results.

“Is he the player that changes the result?

“That’s what you ask yourself.”
Thank you 1 1910. This is correct, I just couldn’t be fkd typing it all out 😂

Many are forgetting that:

"Release request mid season"
"I want XYZ money or im gone"
"I want to win a premiership but want to test my value"

Is part of not changing the game for the club. He chasing money, that's it.

Its purely about money - nothing else. Currently hes on the lop side of the higher tax rate. This is a business deal, not a football passion/club success/i want to win a premiership deal.

edit: Maybe my tax math is wrong?

The timing sucks from he’s knob managers, the season is coming to the pointy end.

The “I’m worth more” battle cry is ridiculous from all these blokes.
Was Bird or Milford made to repay the money when they were injured or played like shit?! So it cuts both ways.

Let’s also not forget, we gave Haas, a teenager, 500K a season before he even watched an NRL game. So is that not showing loyalty or belief in him?!

You either stay on what you’re worth and win premierships with your mates, around your family or you take the cash and end up like Fifita and all the gronks chasing the money at shit teams like the dogs, tigers etc. Worked out well for Hunt and those blokes.

Bankable salary contract estimates are:
850k - 320k approx after tax.
1mil - 400k approx after tax.
1.1mil - 454k approx after tax.
1.2mil - 510k approx after tax.
1.3mil - 565k approx after tax.
1.4mil - 620k approx after tax.

Not sure on what planet you’d get taxed 60%+?! At least in Australia I mean…

At 96 games, Lazo had won two and was 17 games away from a third at Brisbane. He'd changed two clubs at the same point in his career.

No one is suggesting that Payne needs to physically change clubs, but you can change the club you're at which is what Lazo did. Has Payne changed Brisbane enough to demand massive money? If Lazo played out his career in Canberra, he would still have changed the club massively and influenced results.

Lazo came to Brisbane on the back of not making finals in 91, from the last round in 91 to the Grand Final in 92- 12 of the 15 was the same. Dowling retired and Miles went to Wigan and Hauff didn't play the Grand Final.

1991 v Wests- Hauff, Hancock, Renouf, Miles, Carne, Walters, Langer, Gee, Walters, Dowling, Cann, Gillmeister, Matterson, Johns, Hohn.

Very little change except Lazo.

I believe that is what Tallis is saying- has he changed the club enough and results to be your 1.3-million-dollar guy or is what Brisbane is offering fair.

I got the version you got.

Again, if nothing was said publicly, you would be whinging your head off about not hearing something or Payne stringing the club along.

Now all parties know where they stand

Who really gives a **** about Lazzo, the guy retired 25 years ago.

What matters is 2023 and beyond. How does his salary compare to other top props in the competition, he's not even top 10 for prop salary and he's undoubtedly the best prop in the game with room to improve even more.

Is he worth 1.2m under the new cap which is about 950 on the old cap? Without a single doubt. At worst you're overpaying 5-10% and he's the sort of guy who will attract other players to the club.

Am I the only one who wants him gone now?
I went right off him after his release request and even though he is a out and out gun of a player, he is 100% chasing money, not a premiership.

His timing on both of his announcements has been contradictory to wanting to win a premiership, and will only cause division and destabilise our run into the finals.
You would never see Patty doing this.
Offer Haas a respectable contract, take it or leave it and let that be the end of it.

Exactly.

Reyno said not long after he signed that one of the reasons he chose the Broncos was the appeal of playing behind a pack that had Haas in it.

It didn't have that impact last year, why would it this time?

You think that was good for the team huh? One guy demanding more money when we are doing well for the first time in 3 seasons, followed by record breaking plummet out of the 8 from a top 4 position?

Nah you right, no impact at all.
And even then, he showed he didn't want to be a Bronco by requesting a release.

My point was, I went off him when he asked for a release.was curious if anyone else felt the same.

I will add this because you are great at completely missing the point, Haas requesting a release showed he didn't want to be a Bronco.
And your comment insinuates that his release request would have had no impact.

If you are playing with your mates and the best and highest paid player drops a release bombshell on you, it 100% will have an impact on the side.
