THE BOSS Maguire Stomped The Naysayers! But...8 Months Later, Here We Are.

I think when we lost last season, it felt like we were never in those games.

The difference is, that all our losses this season we've actually kept ourselves in the conversation. Outside of the 2nd half of the canberra game, but you could feel they were holding on by the end.

Cant judge Maguire until he culls some players and signs new ones.

As it stands he's inherited someone else's shitshow. Starters aren't much chop and depth is poor in all positions.
13 out of 17 starters played a grand final 18 months ago and the squad is littered with rep stars. I wouldn't call it a shitshow..

Our squad has always had plenty of rep stars but we still failed to make the finals 3 out of the last 4 years. Kevvie took over a squad full of them, as did Seibold before him. It can be the case you can inherit a shit show and still have plenty of talent to work with.

A new coach only comes into a club because the bloke before him wasnt getting the job done or he's walked away from the job.

I remember seeing that exchange between the two at half time and it wasn't intense like they are trying to suggest.
It actually looked like a valuable conversation. Just like honest conversations from 'MaStEr CoAcHes' like how Bellamy, Wayne, or Karen Robinson. Pathetic journalism as we know. Painful that our fanbase draws so much ad revenue for such crap articles.

Hopper: All Oi can soy ois, there ois more to thois than moits hte oi.

Crawley: This is what they get for sacking Wayne, would never have happened on his watch.

*Edit

Hooper: In the foir doinkum departmoint gois, the optics are just all wrong. Doiesn't pass the poib toist.

Crawley: What you said but mumbled around a mouthful of Waynes shaft.

Would love to hear @Sproj do a live impersonation of these clowns fr 🤣

I don't think i've ever seen a team go from wooden spooners to grand finalists in 3 years. Bulldogs might come close but ended up 6th last year.

Anywho, this is a thread about madge and as it stands. Team selections, player improvement, bench use, handling, discipline.. Everything is pretty shit at the moment.

Still waiting to see that "Structure" everyone was talking about...

The point still remains you can have a shitshow happening with a good squad of players. Our style is changing to what we were like last year. Its not going to change in 7 games to be the finished article when you look at how we consistently collapsed last year.

Its pretty clear you are itching for Madge to fail because Kevvie got booted and you didnt like it. I dont recall you being this critical of Kevvie last year with a very similar start to what Madge has had.

Madge will go the same way as well if he fails ( like Kevvie ) to make finals 3 years out of 4 regardless if he loses a grand final or not. In fact, he wont have the same goodwill Kevvie got because he isnt a Broncos legend. Its all about consistency of performance over time, not having a good year in between bad years. The second you go backwards like we did in 2024 the writing will be on the wall.

I have been dead against sacking all of our coaches. I'd be against sacking madge too. As of round 7 the proof is in the pudding. We are no better than we were in 2024 with a full preseason and less injuries..

What you dont seem to be grasping though its a new coach, with new assistants and a new playing style. It would be a miracle if we hit the ground running.

Its pretty obvious you dont back Madge the same way you were Kevvie. If Kevvie started this year exactly the same as Madge, you would be defending him like you were last year and not have the little digs like you have at Maguire. At least be up front about it. I dont like Maguire and i've made no secret of it.
