THE BOSS Maguire Stomped The Naysayers! But...8 Months Later, Here We Are.

Because of Kevvie worried that Ikin had more power than himself, he got Ikin shafted.

I am sure Ikin would have already tapped players on the shoulder & said piss off. (but in a nicer way)

Kevvie always got his mates to bag the club, when things were going against him.

Not missing him, not wanting him back.
And it's obviously still happening. Just like it did when he missed out for pies. It is extremely hard to get a real go from the looks. The media are extremely critical of what's happening, guys Kev now works with or was working with. Dobbo has been like a personal pitbull, it's a bit of s disgrace.

It's so bad that when we looked good early they were saying we couldn't keep our players as there is cap pressure. Now they are saying Madge can't relieve himself of dead wood and recruit like the dogs. The reality is this club is the biggest in the league whether they like it or not and can do whatever it likes. Marty is proof of just how quickly things can get done.

Madge needs time to cement systems. If he came here and there was none. It's even harder, Kev even said these blokes didn't know football when he took over. Just like the Dogs, you put the systems in place, then it's up to the players to buy in and prove they can actually carry out the system. If they can't, you move them on. Melbourne will accept nothing but full buy in. The Dogs right now are showing they can, for how long who knows.

I am actually fully backing Madge. I hope he can be given the support to do what needs doing. Shibs is proof that he can get something out of someone when they buy in. Staggs is showing no sign of change he is the same exact player he was. Hetherington is another, I honestly expected him to come in and be an almost 80 minute worker. But he just doesn't have the engine and at this stage of his career in unacceptable.

Give Madge full open season on broom privileges. Get some guys with hunger.

Apparently he's still tight with Hass (Gordies words though).

Best way to get the media to back off, is to win. They were bagging out Ciraldo and Gould when they were struggling, they were bagging out Kevvie in his first year, and last year it was Benji.

Whether right or wrong (i still think it was wrong), we've gone with Madge. Sux that we now seem to be starting all over again (I didnt think we needed a rebuild), but it is what it is. He now needs to be given the time to build his own team - hopefully its a Souths rebuild and not a Tigers one.

Alternatively, it's all going to plan. He has been over-training them, and its all in preparation for a huge run home post origin.

Despite one or two of the usual deadshits, the rugby league media are actually really united on it being the players fault. The below have all laid responsibility on the players:

- Kemp / bloke in a bar
- Justin Horo & Willie Mason: Levels
- James Graham & Brendan Smith
- Cam Smith
- Gould

Almost everyone has pushed back on the training too hard narrative

Truly the only ones piling on Madge is Rothfield and CONEHEAD

What if Madge isn’t just a hard ass, but also a shit coach?

He drove the tigers into the ground after Cleary had them going in the other direction… where is this confidence coming from, out of a broncos and qld supporter base for this absolute fraud of a coach?

Anasta has also been critical of the players, and CONEHEAD is actually going after DD and the Board this time around... he doesn't care about Madge, but he did say this week that he feels sorry for him and the situation he's walked into.

I can't actually remember where I saw it, but of the youtube guys actually had a dig at Slothfield saying that since he started the training too hard narrative very early in the pre-season he's been trying to continue that talking point

Yeah I saw that somewhere too! I think maybe it was on the Levels podcast. Either Horo or maybe he was reading a fan message

Good. It's so pathetic that a club as big as Brisbane is on track to miss the finals for the fifth time in six years. Meanwhile a poxy little club like the Sharks is there every single year. Even the Knights under Adam O'Brien, who everyone is stunned still has a job, have made the finals 4 out of his 5 years. Humiliating for everyone involved with running this club.

Im happy for DD to come under some scrutiny, however it should mostly be aimed at whoever is responsible for reviewing and evaluating performance of the football department year on year.

And if the board have assigned that responsibility to the CEO then they should sack themselves, because DD isn't a footy person and his role covers every other aspect of the club as well.

They ****ed up by getting rid of Ikin, because he was likely a great candidate to be overseeing our footy department.

There's no point getting rid of a coach every 2-3 yrs, because they come in and have their own ideas on what the club should be doing... you can't just reinvent the footy department all the time.

Even when we made it in pies first year we did so with a losing record…

We’ve had one season with a winning record since Wayne left… and people still try and say it was the right decision 😂

We had a winning record in 2022 as well but didnt make the finals. 13 wins would have made the finals in almost every NRL comp in history apart from 2022!

Round 11 2014 the bunnies were at 9th on the ladder. Its fate, lock in a broncos grand final.
From memory their back end of the season involved some changes. Talented rookies like Dylan Walker and Alex Johnstone coming into the side end Keary returning from injury really sparked them. Our kids don’t seem to be setting the world alight, but maybe our version is Mam returning from suspension and the likes of Te Kura and Mozer coming in.
