OFFICIAL Payne Haas to depart Broncos at the end of 2026

Payne has always said from I think it was his very first interviews that it was his dream to win a premiership for the Broncos. He fulfilled that dream.

He doesn’t care about South Sydney, he’ll never feel the same way about them as he does us.

His next dream is to absolutely set his family up for generations to come, because it’s all on him now. Also remember he has his parents massive legal bills. Surely hiring legal representation overseas .. they would be milking him for all his worth.

It’s going to feel like absolute shit watching him play against us, but it is what it is.

So, let him now go and do for his family, even if we don’t like it, and make his other dreams come true 🤷‍♀️

As for announcing it now on the eve of the season, I think he was ****ed either way.

If he announces it now, everyone clowns on him for putting focus elsewhere and all that other nonsense.

If he waited until midway through the season, everyone clowns on him for not giving the team and head office ample notice so they could plan for life without him in addition to clowning on him for creating a distraction in the side etc etc.

No win situation. I'd prefer this than the latter. Least we know where everyone stands and we can move forward knowing what the future holds, plus it gives us a chance to enjoy him knowing this is the last dance for him/us.

Do his parents still require legal representation? Aren’t they both locked up for the foreseeable future?

Or are you simply predicting they commit crimes in the future?

Pretty sure 9 pundits out of 10 are having them missing the 8 comfortably.
Put it this way, you blokes are winning your next/another premiership, with or without Haas, before we do. We don't have a 7, Cody is on his last legs, we have a bunch of honest toilers at best in a number of key positions.

Payne, Fifita and Latrell alone aren't winning us a premiership in the next 5 years.

If that is what the difference was we've got ****ing rocks in our heads...
Maybe. We have him for 2026, have a massive crack at going back to back, then see where things land?

Perhaps the club has differing thoughts than paying a 27-28 year old prop (in 2027) $1.2m a season, particularly one who is so "grateful" for that investment that he continually flirts with other codes and moving elsewhere, and so actually has a plan for life beyond him?

He is the best prop in the game today in my opinion. That won't always be the case. In any case, if we're going to break the bank on someone, it shouldn't be a prop.

Even the best one.

I am not fluent but It always roughly translates to I hate Billy Walters.
Not anymore, not since we won without him. We don’t win a thing for nearly 5 years while he doesn’t miss a game. Suddenly we stop picking him and win the premiership. He’s the lump of coal we had to have, to reach that pot of gold.

Have to think he is getting close to 2M a year dont see why he leave unless he had a monster offer.

Two interesting points

1) you are a clear Souths fan committed enough to sign up to a rival forum and participate (pure tounge in cheek)

2) Your over all thoughts around Souths, and i wouldn't have a clue what your cap looks like, but there must be a fair bit taken up by a few players, but then I assume a few must be off contract soon to free up cash? But yea, you probably do still need to land a hooker and half?
