OFFICIAL Payne Haas to depart Broncos at the end of 2026

Well we have this season to unearth one of our own and/or scout for the next big thing or unsettle someone else lol

Confused Looking For GIF by Looney Tunes

All in all in think we are in a decent position.

Personally I’d be on the phone to flegler if he’s injuries are in the past. Or move carrigan to prop and get a max Plath type player in

On the Bulldogs forum, there is a complete dickhead, who hates me & because I have posted that I don't want Haas here, he thinks I am lying.

I have posted that I can screenshot my post Haas posts, including the last contract circus.

Serious injury he's recovering from. Could be a case of just being able to get back on the field might be his biggest achievement, time will tell. Thinking of Jaral Yeow Yee.

Timing seemed so poor with this announcement but it really was a blessing in disguise. The boys don’t have to deal with the media hounding them in Brisbane, they can just enjoy being away, Payne included. When they come back, hopefully by the time they come back the media can talk about something else (hopefully!!)

Where did you read that mate?
Old Man Rant: The world is a different place. So much spin and agendas on all sides. Truth is hard to find because everyone's job is to tell their truth not the truth. Its very hard believe anybody let alone Rugby League Journalists.

I hope we keep Haas. If he goes he is a big loss in my view. I would have loved to see him a one club player. However, the modern leagues are set up for this system. If it was the 90s he stays. I guess you could argue to a lesser extent we got Reynolds this way.

We can get some smart replacements and tweak how we play a bit but I will miss him being on our team. For me our dummy half variety becomes much more important if he goes.

Did I read correctly that Karl Morris said they offered 1.3M over 6! years (7.8M) to Haas?

His managers addresses every theory and says they are incorrect.
Wayne was the drawcard and no amount of money can cause a backflip.
No way of knowing how true that is. With SBW, Haas and the systemically oppressed Khawaja in their stable I sense a pattern with this team.

I have such a low opinion of the player management industry that I'm likely off mark with this opinion... but will give it anway :)

Career risk my chaps. For sure you can get 1.2M-1.3M at the drop of a hat at any club right now, but what about in 1-2-3 years time? A LOT can change in this time, including injuries. Brisbane for sure would be better long term wise for outside the cap opportunities and futures. I'm certain they could have inserted a R360 (and that makes perfect sense) clause into a Brisbane deal to get it over the line and also secure much longer than 3 years. Dude is 26 and at the peak of his negotiating power (and in the end just a prop) and they do a move that would suit a young player, going to a weaker club for what may be less money effectively, to play with a coach you think is better for you.

We've seen how JT cashed in on a 10 year deal, well done to that manager! And how JT had a steepish decline in his ability, like to think Paas is much different? Well you may think this but please show me the money first.. Sheesh.

Any issues with Madge and the hard training? - None, no-one trains harder than Payne and he thrives on being uncomfortable. He changed to Samoa because Australia were always going to win so wanted the challenge, hinted there is similar reasons to his Souths move

Issues with Payne and the playing group/staff? - None, loves the club, loves Brisbane, his team-mates and Brisbane is his home. He hasn't ruled out returning

Brisbane low-balled him? - Nope and it isn't about money, no amount of money would have changed his decision

He wants to be coached by Wayne Bennett due to their bond over many things and a large part over disability (Payne's brother and Wayne's son). Feels that this is his last chance to be coached by Wayne.

Will not be backflipping.
