PLAYER Patrick Carrigan

I think he is just a bit burnt out, he's been doing mountains of work over many seasons, he's a workhorse and plays big minutes and lots of games.

I think he probably is just moving to the point in his career where the work has taken it's toll and he needs to move to less minutes to preserve him a bit.

The problem currently is it seems more and more like he’s passing so he doesn’t have to take the hitup, rather than because he should pass. And in a team struggling for metres and one too many ball players, we don’t need that coming from lock also

I said in the live thread he’s not fit, and I think that’s due to him being too big - he’s gone with the Ascended Saiyan form rather than Super Saiyan (or SSJ 2)

He was also top of the list of most 6 agains conceded along with Reynolds in those few games I did a breakdown of in the Klein thread - he’s been too slow in the ruck for a while now

All the hard years and long minutes have caught up with him I think, and with his mate Payne going, I don’t think we’ll see the best of him again at this rate

Wouldnt be sad to see him collect a PNG paycheck. I think he's just not good value for money. We need a monster forward.

I think its burn out. You just cant play big forwards as many minutes as he does and expect them to do it all of their careers without it having an impact. We did it with Payne and even though his minutes are managed better now he still get a fair few injuries, and Pats been playing huge minutes for years.

Thing is as well, we all thought having hetherington at lock wouldnt be much of a downgrade and it ended up being a massive downgrade. From reading on here, we need to sort out our halves, hooker and backrow before worrying about other areas right now. The halves and hooker especially dont seem to be performing up to standard.

Poor tackling technique is a big factor .
He wastes a lot of energy wrestling ineffectively, gets left on the ground too often and is not overly keen to go low if he is the 3rd man in the tackle .
Doesn`t offload and is making F -All metres recently .
Broncos 17th for run metres .....

Then , Payne running out towards the edges .
Looking for the smallest man on the field .
That`s the 2nd rowers job . Looks good , gets metres . But doesn`t upset the opposition ruck defence . Or set up time and space for the play makers .

You don't see much emotion with him. Maybe it's only because I started paying attention this year to how he reacts after points are scored but he's not showing much excitement (or aggression) at all. We need that from a leader in the forward pack.

As somebody else mentioned, I really do think he is just exhausted from all the work he’s done in the prior years

lol has there been any worse season of injury in a clubs history? I know the roosters had a bad year a while back but this is nuts

We've had this before. Where it's really burning us is key positions are going down where we have **** all coverage.

Piaks and Riki going down completely exposes a problem we've had since we let Capewell go inexplicably. Almost as bad as letting Zac Hoskings go too.

We've also lost a lot of depth in our middles with Palasia, TPJ, Bullemor, Hetherington, Robati, big Marty, Flegler all going.

Add to that Jensen who might get forced into medical retirement if this blood clot issue continues, losing Haas, BTK quitting the NRL likely.

If Patty doesn't come good, things are looking pretty grim. Barnett is an OK signing, but worth half or less of what Haas brought.

Really?!

Moving Capewell on was dumb.

Fresh after the 2023 GF, the opinion wasn't super favourable towards Capewell as a couple of the late breaks made against us were around him. Too old and too slow, if the Warriors want him they can have him while he deteriorates etc. Might as well be them getting him, to continue the Walsh & TMM friendship etc.

Not me. Always been a fan, even through his blue period.

Just because the R&R team didn’t adequately do their job doesn’t mean the choice to let Kurt was also wrong

He also currently looks good because his team is good
