Yep we were penalised for getting there earliest and best and as expected, in both last nights games similar things happened and it was play on.
Coates's entire game as the game's most elite aerial specialist is jumping early to throw the defender off. Haven't seen him penalised once, but I've heard the commentators wank over his aerial ability multiple times every game, but I'm yet to see him take one high ball since debut.

It’s the reason Cobbs and Walsh dropped so many balls when we played them. Coates kept jumping early and knocking them out of the way but play on. Walsh jumps though and would have caught it if Staggs didn’t, nope nope that is not ok.

Honestly it would be better for the fans and the commentators if they just admitted they hate the Broncos and unfortunately at times that will colour their commentary. Like we all know it’s the case but this whole facade is actually really boring. I don’t care that they hate us, they have good reason to I’m just sick of them pretending.

I hate the refs more than anyone but Fatty’s endless undermining of the refs during this game was ruining the game. Crazy that the NRL allows nine to shit on the product so overtly. Even if he’s right half the time
Nines coverage is absolute cringe, it is soo dated & embarrassing. Vautin should have been put out to pasture 15 years ago.

"Referee Adam Gee sent the decision upstairs as “no try”

If he was so sure it was a no try, that he felt compelled to overrule the bunkers decision......the spineless fuckhead shouldn't have sent it up for review in the first place.

Likely a tough call and definitely the wrong process, no point having a bunker if the ref makes a decision based on looking at a big screen replay.

I genuinely do not agree that it was the right call. It was a challenge in the air, where one player jumped and turned to get to the ball. He won the challenge. Walsh might be too smart for this sport
Yep add the strip he got penalised for where the attacking player was in the broncos in goal and would’ve scored if Walsh let go. If that’s not a try scoring scenario idk what is.

The problem with the call - and calls like these - is it requires you read the player's mind, and presume he must look at the ball to contest the ball. It's more common sense than that: a player can both be aware of the ball's trajectory, other players in the contest AND be concerned about his own safety. In fact, he MUST have that awareness in his peripheral vision, otherwise he'll end up on a stretcher.

This contradicts rulings of "careless" in defence, where the player has to be aware of not only his goal in stopping the offensive player, but the well-being of that player.

In my opinion, Walsh is well within his rights to avert his eyes from the ball in pursuit of it, and it's beyond the bunker to read his mind. If the referee or touch judge watched him make a beeline for another player and deliberately take him out, there was no need to involve the bunker.
If an attacking player is in the vicinity of the ball (as in, he could legitimately contest and catch it), like Walsh was, it ought to be deemed a fair contest. Reading a player’s facial expression and where their eyes are is silly: are we going to determine a player’s intent in foul play situations by how mean they look?

The correct call was made, but the process not so much.

Walsh had eyes for Edwards the entire time and then comes up with a half assed "challenge" which takes out Edwards.

9 times out of 10, that's no try.

I don’t mind having Fatty around for a bit of colour and nostalgia but cut to him a couple times a game, don’t let him be a lead commentator
Fatty is a national treasure.
