08/09 Premier League Thread

Worst 12 hours in footballing terms for me almost ever. First the Roar choke with all the territory, basically creating no decent chances and losing 1-0 to a goal on the break and then to add insult Barca lost 1-2 to bitter cross town rivals Espanyol this morning which included the softest straight red of all time to Keita when a yellow would have been fair if not harsh from that point on the game completely changed and Espanyol caught them short twice to go 2-0 up, they had 2 shots at goal all game both resulted in goals (one from a horrendous Valdes error) and Barca had all the ball and territory but like the Roar couldn't finish. To make matters worse the lead is now 7 points as Real Madrid continued to improve under Ramos with a 6-1 demolition on Betis. ARGH!@!@!@

Yep, trust Real Madrid to be hitting up their best form in the weeks leading up to their CL tie with Liverpool. [icon_non

Where's fenomeno?

Does anyone else get the shits with Mark Bosnich on Fox sports? He comes out with the most generic, obvious statements and we're supposed to think he is now a football genius. "I think at this point Arsenal are a bit too far behind to challenge for the title" ..... no shit dickhead

Liverpool can't lose to this Real Madrid team in CL, no chance, and Barca have La Liga tied up, not that i care about La Liga anymore, winning it 2 years in a row was enough, but for us, its going to be another disaster as far as Champions League goes.

Don't get too optimistic there. [icon_lol1.

Its hard to be optimistic when you've seen you're team play like they have in the CL in the last 6 years or so. :P

Rumours are rife that Rafa Benitez won't be Liverpool's manager come next Monday.

A couple of agencies have even closed betting on it. I've heard Riijkard and Mancini have been approached from separate sources.

I don't believe it myself, but tbh it would not surprise me if Rafa went.

I would wait until the seasons end to be honest, but Liverpool need a new boss. Rafa isn't all he's cracked up to be IMO.

Told you we couldn't play to save our lives in the CL.

Happy with that result obviously.

I was surprised with how much we managed to control the game given some of the talent in Real's team.

Still, it's only one half of the tie and you'd be nuts to write off Madrid for the second leg given the ability of their players.

Looking forward to it.

Unfortunately, there is no chance we can get a positive result at anfield, the only world class players in that team are Casillas and Ramos, everyone else is just past it or shite or too young, and you have the best manager on your side for a CL game, so there isn't much chance tbh.

On the game, there was no team work whatsoever on Madrid's part, Robben is such a notch down from Robinho its not funny, the midfield didn't do anything, Guti was crap after coming on for Marcelo, should have come on for Gago instead, we had no width and our team lacks pace.

Farca did brillianty this morning, Aguero owned them, its getting close now.

I watched on with dismay as they handed a 2-0 lead back to Athletico who did play well. Aguero is a star and could well be ours next season (according to the rumours). We have been due for a poor streak all season after the perfect start and it is better to have a slow patch now than in April or May but they need to snap out of it very soon with the way Madrid are cruising in the league.

Watching Pool v Madrid couldn't help but laugh at Pepe diving at a touch from Torres to try and milk a foul and not get it only for Torres to then score. I hate it when defenders go down like that because they seem to get the call 99% of the time compared to forwards who never do.

Yeah baby yeah.
