08/09 Premier League Thread

Interesting to see that the video cuts our mere seconds before Joleon 'the rock of gibraltar' lescott trudges over and puts a swift end to that tap dancing little foray (atleast thats how i remember it anyway :D ).

Also does anyone know that if on betfair.com or centrebet.com can you put on multi-bets like at the TAB??

Centrebet yes, Betfair yes but is more limited and odds are vastly reduced from exchange prices.

I think you are wrong. [icon_razz1

As i recall, Torres cut back onto his left and whipped in a cross with only Keane in the box. Nothing eventuated obviously. icon_smile

is there any particular site that you would recommend?? Just looking through the odds on a few sites betfair looks to have the best odds??

we'll have to agree to disagree [icon_lol1.

For Premier League? Betfair by far has the best odds, particularly in terms of match odds and over/under. They also have the greatest range of markets. However, if you do multiples, the odds advantage Betfair offers over other bookies will be reduced due to the different nature of the two bets. Overall though, Betfair is definitely best for range of EPL markets, single bet odds and liquidity.

NB - Occassionally traditional bookies will be best for first goal scorer or correct score

City only offered 5 million pounds for Shay Given?? Cheeky kunce. Given is easily one of the best keepers in the world IMO. 5 million is a bloody joke

We should have won last night. Newcastle's penalty was f***ing bollocks. F*ck the geordie scum. Grats to the Reds anyways, now stip f*cking about and take the title off those smug manc bastards.

Have i mentioned i love Torres?

Anyway, Lampard really shouldn't have been sent off, but in my mind that's karma for some of the terrible decisions that have gone our way in recent times against Chelsea. Also for when Lampard broke Alonso's ankle in 2005 and didn't even get a card - went in studs up and all.

BTW if this isn't cited well then the FA are fucking hopeless:

haha that's ridiculous, surely he would have gotten a red if the Ref saw that
- Studs up
- No attempt to get the ball
- Un-sportsmanlike behavior

*edit*

Also lol @ the whole Robbie Keane thing this season, it's been a bit of a joke really. What is it with Liverpool buying strikers who turn out to be crap for them (except Torres of course)

And WTF is up with Arshavin? Why does it seem to difficult to buy him? Is it Zenit? His agent? Surely you would think he would be at a different club by now..

They effectively paid a 8 million pound 6 month loan fee [icon_lol1. (and wages 8-) )

Not really.

From what i've heard the most we lost on the deal was 3m. We hadn't paid the fee in full when Spurs signed him. Therefore Spurs are going to scrath what we owe them, plus pay some cash.

Arshavin was never going to happen because of his wage demands IMO. They are massive since he is at Zenit with their Russian money. Arsenal have a wage cap thing which Wenger refuses to break.

Can't believe Bosingwa didn't cop a ban, the FA are a joke.

Looks like good old Andrei did sign for Arsenal.

Arsenal have finally completed the transfer of Andrei Arshavin from Zenit St Petersburg for an undisclosed fee.

The Russian international midfielder, 27, agreed what the Gunners described as a "long-term" deal on Monday.

Final confirmation of the move was held up while the Premier League assessed whether all the necessary paperwork had been completed before the deadline.

Zenit claim the fee is about £15m and the contract for three-and-a-half years but Arsenal have not confirmed this.

"I'm a Gunner. I'm happy to be at Arsenal," Arshavin said. "I like Arsenal's style. I like Arsene Wenger as a coach. I like some of the players from this team."

He could now make his debut in Sunday's north London derby at Tottenham.

However, given that the Russian domestic season finished in November, the player is more likely to be allowed some time to build up full match fitness.

"I might be on Friday or Saturday, but I'm not fit now," said the player. "It will be decided by Arsene whether I can play or not."

He will be unable to figure in the Gunners' Champions League campaign as he has already featured for Zenit in the competition.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said: "He is a versatile player with great experience, who will add real quality to our squad.

"Andrei is an exciting impact player with a huge amount of ability and has been an influential force with both Zenit St Petersburg and the Russian national team in recent seasons."

The two clubs had earlier disagreed over the fee and over Arshavin's own personal terms.

But Arshavin flew to London on Sunday evening and spent Monday undergoing medical checks. It is understood he will now return to Russia to attend to personal matters before joining up with his new club.

Arshavin, who will wear the number 23 shirt for Arsenal, shot to prominence at Euro 2008 where his performances for Russia earned him a place in the Team of the Tournament.

He won the Russian Premier League with Zenit in 2007 and also played a key part in the club's Uefa Cup winning campaign last season.

Apparently he only likes some of the players. [icon_lol1.

woooo hooooo!!

Pretty shit game really, very scrappy. Jags was great tho, had Torres in his pocket all match.

Certainly got the wood over pool in recent times icon_thumbs_u

Yeh well done Everton. Can't believe the way they celebrated when Gerrard was subbed though, must of been the most exciting moment of the season for them.

I'm not blaming the referee for our loss, but i felt he was poor. Neville, Cahill and Pienaar were all allowed to commit numerous fouls before being punished, yet Lucas is sent off for two pretty soft challenges. [icon_shru

The lads gave 100% and managed to hold on with ten men for 60 odd minutes, can't ask for much more.

Oh well, at least we can now concentrate fully on the big trophies - Premier League and Champions League.

I hope Aston Villa beat you in the next round. icon_thumbs_u

Lucas first yellow was quite soft, but the second was a no brainer, we were on break.. how stupid is he??? Rafa will be filthy on him.

Liverpool should have killed us, we have so many players out and no strikers. Shows how reliant they are on Gerrard.

Can't believe Shandy Van Der Meyde got the assist for the winner [icon_lol1. [icon_lol1.

Also anyone know what the significance is of Liverpool fans throwing socks on the pitch??
