Seriously? Turdley's in the 17? *facepalm* Then yes, he would be the backup.

How does this useless guy keep getting picked in rep teams?

I'd imagine his chocolate lips would have something to do with it.

Boyd is in the squad? I did a krissel!

You need to show more respect for the NSW captain. [icon_shady

So the fact that he's spent most of his career on the wing, plays Origin on the wing and offers a lot of versatility doesn't count in Boyd's favour? Sheens must be in the early stages of dementia.

Who is Slater's backup?
he plays fullback though, so hes a fullback. rocky will back me up [icon_wink .

i think the worst decision is not giving Carney a run. Dally M player of the year, absolutely carved up, yet he doesnt even make the 17.

great to see so many Queenslanders though :D

what these tools justify the selection of Tuqiri over Boyd by saying Tuqiri is a specialist winger lol. Yet they were going to play Hayne on the wing anyway. What is it with Australian selectors and coaches these days?

Just shows what a beat-up the "specialist winger" ploy is. I'm hopeful they'll just play Lote there for the PNG game then chuck Boyd in for the bigger games....at the expense of can'tcatchMorris

Cant find a betting site that will give me odds on NZ to win the tournament with SKD as top scorer?? [icon_non

Anyone recommend one? [icon_pray.

Cheers

Better bet would be Aus to win and Morris as top try scorer.

Might take that bet aswell. You know a site offering odds? icon_thumbs_u

they all do.

Every site I've looked at is only offering tournament winner. I want to put on a tournament winner/top scorer multi or whatever its called over here.

So the full team named is:
1. Billy Slater
2. Brett Morris
3. Brent Tate
4. Willie Tonga
5. Lote Tuqiri
6. Darren Lockyer (c)
7. Cooper Cronk
8. Petero Civoniceva
9. Cameron Smith
10. Nate Myles
11. Sam Thaiday
12. Luke Lewis
13. Paul Gallen

Interchange: Kurt Gidley, Anthony Watmough, Tom Learoyd-Lahrs, David Shillington

Frankly I would've gone:

Slater
Boyd
Tonga
Lawrence
Morris
Lockyer
Cronk
Civoniceva
Smith
Shillington
Myles
Thaiday
Gallen

Interchange
Lewis
Scott
Watmough
Learoyd-Lahrs

And that's despite how much I hate Gallen and Watmough. I'd still have them ahead of Young, Gidley or Farah.

I can't believe they've named Nate Myles in the front row and left Matt Scott out. Myles is a good front rower, but he is a better 2nd rower.

I have a tigers supporter friend who is always upset with Sheens selections and I can see why.

I would have your team too Coxy except for Lawrence, I'd probably have Tate ahead of him, and that says a lot since I was a Tater (that is, Tate Hater) for a lot of years.

Myles was outstanding this season in the back row. For the Grand Finalist Roosters, and Origin maroonwashing Queensland. Why on earth would you (Sheens, not mrslong) play him up front?

Matt Scott meanwhile probably didn't have his best year, but he was great for Queensland.

Gidley offers no value off the bench, whereas if you put Scott in, Shillington up front, Myles back to the back row, Lewis to the bench...you have ample size and prop rotation, good back row depth, good versatility (Lewis can play 3, 4, 6, 11-13). Sheens is useless.

Tate vs Lawrence. Not a split hair between them IMO, but I think Lawrence has real potential at this level so I want to see him have a go - and would prefer he does against PNG than say NZ or GB.

Another classic Tim Sheens picking a player from his side.

If he desperatley wanted 'specialist' wingers then why wasn't Lote in the side to being with?

How is Watmough in the squad let alone the top 17, he was crap for the entire second half of the season. The guy is becoming a deadset myth.

Needs more Matt Scott.

He was one of the best props all season and he had little help in a team that was getting smashed every week.

Statistically, he was better than Shillington, the Dally M prop of the year.

Sheens seems to forget that Boyd has played alot of games on the wing, and has been carving up on the wing for QLD. he is claiming that he needed a specialiast winger publicly so he can justify picking Tuqiri to start over Boyd. if Tuqiri wasn't a Tigers player then Boyd would have been selected for the game against PNG
