NOT everyone will collect a Dally M Medal or a premiership ring this season. Here are my 10 biggest flops.PARRAMATTA EELS
Where do you start with the disaster that has been Parramatta's campaign?
Stephen Kearney was sacked as coach four weeks ago, Chris Sandow was voted the NRL's worst-value player in The Daily Telegraph fans poll last week and superstar fullback Jarryd Hayne was sprung shopping at Woolworths on game day. Good luck Ricky Stuart.
The Eels are almost certain to finish with the wooden spoon and at no stage of the year even remotely looked like a chance to play finals football

Who are your biggest flops for 2012?? I actually think this tool Rothfield is pretty spot on but he may have missed a few.

i dont think pearce has been as bad as he says. he hasnt been great, but he doesnt deserve to be in with that bunch.

i would add darius boyd and kade snowden

1. Chris Sandow.

2. Daylight.
3. [insert the rest of Rothfield's rhetoric].

I think Bennett and Boyd should be there. They have massively under delivered this year.

Neither Johnson or Grant belong on there.

Don't think it's right to single out Johnson when Maloney has been worse & the coaching poor. Even Kevin Locke went backwards at a rate of knots.

Adam Blair has been the highlight but most of the West Tigers belong on there. Lawrence isn't the same player, Tuqiri can't make it onto the field, the only fullback they had was a 19 year old kid, players like Moltzen suck & for awhile there they didn't even have a decent forward pack!

Ray Hadley belongs on there, in a big way.

Definitely Wayne Bennett, easily the biggest flop of the year.

Team that made the 8 last year.
Team with 10+ rep players.
Unlimited money to throw around.
Bookies had them as favourite to win the Premiership, many "experts" also said he'd get them the premiership.

finished outside the 8 after being the laughing stock of the league for half the season. fantastic.

next up would be darius boyd, has been absolutely useless for 75% of the year, then stepped up to 'next to useless' for the remaining 25%.

Sandow next.
Snowden after him.
Warriors as a whole next.

Grant does fit in there for the reasons mentioned in the article, but agree with the rest!

Didn't expect the Knights to do quite so badly but at the same time I found it hilarious that they were rated as highly as they were before the season kicked off .. Purely on paper, their roster rates in the lower half of the comp imo.

TV rights deal is divisive but I never expected him or the IC to fix the judiciary, refereeing or mid-season transfers all within his one year.

Plain scapegoating that's what that is.

He could have sacked Harrigan & Raper, when he had the chance.

But no, he wanted to sack Gallop instead. IMO because Gallop wasn't a yes man.

Yes Gallop had his faults, but Harrigan & Raper are tossers.

I'd say Boyd certainly deserves to be in the flop category. Bennett probably belongs there as well. I don't understand why Shaun Johnson could be a flop, he has been playing behind a beaten forward pack most weeks.

Who says their job will be safe in the off-season?

Has Grant & co. even had a full off-season to exact much change?

No way! They're all rep players!

While I didn't expect the Knights to take out a premiership, I certainly didn't see them stagnating or even going backwards.

Think Bennett will leave the place better than when he started though, won't get his due from his haters because he's bought superior players.

Well that's not hard, they have been rabble for years.

They finally have a coach who runs the club & not the players.

I think people had stupid expectations on the Knights, Bennett was brought in to completely overhaul the way they train, develop, the style they play and the type of players they want in their side. Snowden has not been a flop and anyone who labels him as one is probably a biased Bennett basher (AP and QLDER) the guy was out injured for a fair while this season, he was also playing hurt for significant periods and has been pretty good since coming back recently, the fact they have added Willie Mason to good success only highlights just how little they had up front going into the year. Guys like Taia, Cuthbertson, Tetevano etc are not first grade standard front rowers (Taia is a good backrower) so Snowden was there with those guys in a side getting pushed backwards also their backrow doesn't contribute heavily to their yardage guys like Costigan and Housten are not big metre gainers usually neither is McKinnon.

On Boyd he has come to a side in massive transition, yes he is on big money and in a key position but the whole side took a long while to really look like a team. Add to that Buderus was new in that spine as well and Gidley (who pretty much runs the team) was ruled out for the vast majority of the year there are some pretty decent reasons why they and he underperformed.

They definitely improved in the second half of the year and will be a much better side with another full preseason with Bennett as well as new recruits he brings in.

Agreed that Snowden hasn't been that bad. He's not been super or anything but frankly I don't think his reputation is anywhere near high enough for his performances this year to be considered much less than average.

As for Boyd, I don't think he gets any free passes. He could have stayed at the Dragons but instead elected to follow daddy dearest around the country. He knows Bennett's system already and frankly should have done better than he did. I mean, no, he didn't have Gidley, but it's not like anyone is a step down from Ben Hornby!

Also, what was the deal with Bennett dropping Joel Edwards and playing Tevetano in his place? I mean, the Knights signed Beau Scott, yet they want to punish Edwards for taking up a better offer and play someone crap like Tevetano instead.
