He has many good qualities, they just haven't seemed to come together to make an above average player. Maybe he just doesn't have 'vision'.

Macca is one of the best hookers going around in the NRL. The idiocy on this board at times.... he has flaws no doubt. But he is consistent. Every week he plays at 100%. Tackles his ring out, makes our D that much more solid and is rarely selfish. Yes he could be better in other areas but i doubt any other hooker is as consistent with their preformances apart from Smith. There are flashier and better runners but do they deliver a job each and every week the way macca does.... **** no

I agree , he was starting to grow before he got injured to. There is a reason he has been signed long term.

I don't get the hate for Macca on here. 80 minute hooker who tops tackles weekly and does ask questions of the defence while utilising a handy kicking game
I am not his biggest fan he frustrates me but there is a reason he has been the Broncos hooker for 9 years straight, has been mentioned as smith's heir and that it seems quite obvious he will lead the Broncos one day
With our forward rotation his 80min constant output is crucial only 4 others sides have that
What we do have to worry about though is his injury and that he has potentially lost more speed

This. While I'm not Macca's biggest fan, I can't think of a single non-Smith hooker who is definitively better than him. Jake Friend is perhaps his equal in defence and slightly better in attack (read: allowed to throw forward passes).

If not for McCullough, we could have kept Taylor and shifted Hunt to hooker.

What absolute rubbish. We let Hunt go because he wanted twice what he was worth. As for keeping Taylor, we let him go because at that time Hunt and Milford were the best young halves in the game. The guy who at the time looked to be QLD’s next halfback wasn’t getting moved to hooker so that is completely irrelevant.
By Parcell and Baptiste, do you mean the guys that can’t get a starting gig in the NRL? Oh noes.

I want to know, which games are you watching. Walters, Meninga and Bennett and literally every other commentator always speak about him as second to Smith. He is so well rounded, in my opinion he is the perfect hooker for the broncos, I'd only want C Smith instead of him, no one else.

Granville is decent, still gets run over in defence tho. And his only got one aspect to his game and that's running from dummy half, nothing else.

Macca is not and never will be Cam Smith. That is not the point. What he does provide for the Broncs is essential to the way we play footy. A lot of people focus just on the negatives that are brought up a lot on these forums when our side needs a fall guy. I blame Hunt and Milf a lot more gor any breakdowns in attack due to their lack of game control. Macca provides the same quality preformances week in week out and that is pivitol in a Nrl season. Much like Moose guys that don't go missing and who show up are cornerstones of a good footy team and you would be crazy not to keep them in your team.

This forum is yarns on yarns, it's as if you want Wayne to pluck some perfect prodigy that plays like Smith and has the name of Lockyer out of his ass. Welcome to the real world MCCullough is as good as the broncos and every other team except the Melbourne will get at Hooker. You can't have once in a decade immortals in every position.
