2019 Broncos Line-up

I agree they are our best starting options long term. I'd like to see the starting team be Lodge, Offa and Fensom until after origin period. After the origin period our younger players will be a bit more experience and be able to provide more impact off the bench and we can afford to start TPJ. I think at the moment, for the early part of the season, we just lose far too much impact by starting him.
I think if Haas stays fit and healthy, gets some minutes under his belt etc he could be a strike weapon in terms of impact off the bench. I just don't think he will be able to provide that consistently to start the season. Mago, honestly last year was quite disappointing. Unless he has been training the house down i'd rather Taga for experience, or give someone like Carrigan a crack.

Experience would be useful to start the season. We definitely have enough in the squad. Keeps the young guys hungry. Everyone can fight for a spot.

8. Matthew Lodge
9. Andrew McCullough
10. Joe Ofahengaue
11. Jaydn Su'a
12. Matt Gillett
13. Shaun Fensom

Definitely a nice balance. We have the depth to rotate the forwards according to what Seibold thinks we need.

Just because he has said TPJ is a middle forward and that Lodge, Offa and TPJ are leading the way, I don't think means they will certainly be the starting 3.

If they are, I still think our bench would be Sua, Fifita, Haas, Taga/Mago.

If anything, I think the sentiment that he appears to be going with size spells the end of Fensom being in the team.

I do feel like we have the best balance with Fensom at 13, Offa and Lodge to start with TPJ, Fifita, Sua and Haas on the bench. Solid defensive start still with im pact with Lodge, and then a lot of impact off the bench.

Personally wouldn't have Fensom in my 17 unless of injury or severe drop in form from one of the young guns.

Only reasons would be leadership, defense and experience. Maybe a bit of humility.

Not bad reasons to include him. Just a matter of how much belief you have in the young guys really. We did clock off a few times in the middle and it was obvious that we rely on McCullough. When he was injured we had a bit of trouble. My memory is a bit foggy but I think that's fair to say.

I like the look of all of these hypothetical sides...And with the coach swap done and dusted I'll be confident in whatever A.S picks for round 1. Hearing about how hard he's working them at training and how much talent we have in the side I'll trust that whoever gets the nod will have earned it.

You also spelt Haas “hass” in the same post, just saying.

Ok , not caring ! It's what happens when you have limited time on your phone to send a post , my job dosen't allow me the luxuries like some.

Seems to me that Jamil Hopoate may have taken Tuaeli's place in the squad

With out the attacking ability.

Luckily our side is stacked with attack.

I think we'll have the right structures in place so that we don't have to worry too much about attack.

If that's the case then our defence must be the first priority

With out the attacking ability.

He was never short on runs or offloading ability. Just maybe not quite the impact as Parker but he still did a lot more with the ball than a purely defensive player like Stagg etc.

I think the bench is the hardest part to pick of our squad with the options we have.
Agreed we have 3 legitimate middles in Ofa, Lodge and TPJ, but then it's youngsters in Haas & Carrigan or old heads in Fensom or Taga. Mago would be a go for me as well, but no serious standouts.

Then in the 2nd row we have Gillett, Glenn, Sua, Fifita, Staggs, etc. All fighting it out for pretty much 3 spots (2 starting and 1 bench).

We're 2nd row heavy for a game that requires 5-6 genuine middles. Will be interesting to see how Seibs uses them.

To me a guy like Glenn was useful coming off the bench as a lock at the start of 2017 (I think).

So you could have a Fifita or Sua on the bench and put them into 2nd row with Glenn going to lock after 30mins when TPJ comes off... or Glenn coming on for TPJ straight off the bench with Sua and Gillett starting
