This Billy hate is just amusing at this point

You know how Huge would defend Isaako and Kennedy and it became a meme? That's where we're at
Agree on both points, it is amusing.
And defending him is akin to defending Isaako.

If Haas becomes captain, does he get a pay rise? If so, sign him up!
The prospect of being captain was dangled in front of him when he signed, but he ceded to Reynolds:

Corey was backing him:

Until he wasn't:

The difference here is that Huge genuinely thinks Isaako and Kennedy are elite.

Not a single poster on this forum that 'defends' Billy Walters thinks he is elite.

But you and McHunt argue with those posters like you believe they do think he is elite. And then act like those people are the irrational ones.

No my argument is that nepotism is involved and blah blah blah, let’s not start it up again until something interesting happens. I get the gist of everyone else’s argument too, and don’t think ive ever said that…..because I don’t think that.

I don’t think huge ever called either of those players elite either.

But….ok.

Your definition of elite seems to be changeable depending on who you are defending...

Elite as in not in comparison to the other players in the comp, but in comparison to who took their spot. Although fwiw I would prefer an entire spine of billy Walters quadruplets all on 500k a year than retain Anthony Milford. Mchunt got that one wrong.

But I will give you props for recognising McHunt was wrong on Milford. That we can agree on at least!

Isaako was most definitely an "elite" player. 5 tests for NZ. Junior Kangaroo (five eighth). Dally M Rookie of the Year 2018. Dally M Try of the Year 2018. Goal kicking at 83%. Second highest Broncos point scorer of all time. Most points by a rookie in history.

Unfortunately he become increasingly error prone, which tended to cancel out his "elite" skills.

Come on mate, that's just ridiculous. McHunt has never been wrong about anything in his life.

The quote you quoted me on is taken extremely out of context. Has nothing to do with what we were talking about here. Anyone can go back to my comment and check for themselves. I’m not doing this again today mate, if you’re still upset tomorrow shoot me a reply.

I was wrong here, but not as wrong as everyone who had him at 6:

I always considered elite to mean like the top 5% or something. The game’s superstars and that’s it. If we start naming anyone who played for Australia or state of origin as elite, then we really cant complain when the media refer to a nswrl jersey Flegg cup bench player as a star.

Yes, it's a subjective and relative term.

Everyone who gets paid to play sport, particularly the NRL, is an "elite" athlete. Those who get chosen in representative teams are "elite" amongst that group. And then there are the "elite" within that "elite" group.

In Jamayne's case, playing 5 test matches for one of the "elite" rugby league countries (Aus, UK, NZ) makes him "elite" enough for me. But, as above, he's certainly not one of the "elite" test players.

Whether you're prepared to call someone like Kurt Capewell - who's played multiple games for QLD, but has been in fairly poor form recently - "elite" is a highly subjective exercise. But just the fact he's second ranked to be captain of the Broncos makes him one of our "elite" players.

None of this bears any relationship to being a future "immortal," which involves sustained excellence at the top rung of the "elite" group.

As for the term "star," you only need to get fucked in front of a camera to become a porn star.

It's like people forget what elite means.
