It would have to be at a different club, at fullback/five-eighth.

Just like Scotty Drinkwater who found himself Papenhuyzen and Munster.
Tristan was the only player on the field who really shouted above the noise. In attack, anyway. His goal line defence is still a touch suspect. I don't know if you saw Pap's reserve grade comeback from injury last season. Tristan was classy, but that was a masterclass in what it looks like to be playing a grade below your station.

I think you leave it be for now, and only bring him in to cover injuries and when we rest players once the minor premiership is wrapped up.

It's still unknown if he's the future of the Broncos, but what's definitely known is that we have a grand final team right now. I wouldn't want to mess with that unless we are forced to.
Yes and no. I’m leaving it be personally but that is solely due to the fact that he isn’t valuable for 20 minute stints. If it was 40/40 stint with him and Billy I’d one hundred percent pick him. There is nothing remotely incompetent or inadequate about his game that would hurt our premiership chances that Smoothy would otherwise boost. I just don’t think the hooker rotation will change and Mozer is not a 20 minute hooker and will develop far better playing 60 in cup for a little while. He definitely doesn’t have a downside that could blow up our season.

His game is literally vision and out smarting the room. He dominated cup when he played consistently last year. He has excellent service and pretty good defence so for what he lacks in punch he has to make up in being extremely smart. That is literally his game, wrong player to try and keep things simple with. To me it seems when he isn’t playing in an environment where he has cohesion, relationships and chemistry with his forward pack they don’t ever seem to be on the remotest of pages with him. But when he dumbs shit down he gets a grilling on here for not looking special enough. I implore you to watch some cup cause he is one of the smartest players you are ever going to see at his age.

Mozer runs on a very high frequency that really just doesn’t suit this 20 plus different combinations of each position, low teammate familiarity environment. He can give good service and tackle all day long that’s his platform to spring his smarts off but when shit isn’t going well and completions are down, players aren’t very advanced footy minds, your working out of your own half all game, your trying to wrestle back ascendency he will not shine, he will just do his job getting ball to the forward pack to get back on the front foot. AS HE SHOULD. Even then if you watch his marker recognition, movements out of dummy half it is all a work of art. Everything he does is for a reason and because he has identified something. Very rarely is he just going through the motions.

Not the player you want to keep things simple. He will turn into a Jake Turpin if he keeps things simple cause the only thing simple about his game is passing and tackling. His game is so advanced and so sophisticated and that’s why he is special. Not many players in the game at all are capable of doing what he does let alone since his young age.
Good players pick their moments. Mam is the epitome of what mozer needs to do. Same with every new 1st grader. Focus on defence and staying in the game, you see a moment, take it. That's it. You DO NOT need to outsmart every one every single play with an inside ball or scoot the short side or something. Experienced nrl players have seen it all before. Pick your moment and time it well. We want him to start overuling Reynolds every set? He will get there 100%, he has great service and is very crafty with decent defence, but I am glad you aren't in Walters position. There's a reason he holds young players back and gets them to keep it simple, this isn't park footy, you get punished for mistakes and you need to be patient. There's no flood gates opening, lazy inside men, weak markers. In the top teams there are 13 players on the field who can defend.

Ps. He isn't suddnely turning into jake bloody turpin because he let's Reynolds call the shots and focuses on service and defence ffs. Get a grip

Exactly right. He works on a very different frequency to most other players.
I'm not sure how to articulate this but I can't help seeing the tiniest air of style over substance in Mozer's game. I LOVE how he looks at dummy half, and I want him to be the greatest 9 the club has ever fielded, but I'm not sure what I'm seeing translates into actually being a great dummy half. The complete opposite of Tyson Smoothy, who looks rough as guts, but gets the job done.

I was really expecting more from him in this game. I wanted him to dominate. Instead, he was merely efficient.

I thought the best part of Papenhuyzen's comeback was how he didn't over-extend himself. He warmed his way into the contest, trusted his team mates and just let the game come to him.

With Walsh and Sailor, it's all or nothing.

A little bit, yes. It's why I think once Walsh mellows, and inevitably slows down, he might be an even better fit at 6. But that's a conversation to be had in a couple of years. That transition is a road littered with failure.

Agreed but does seem like the sort of player that will improve once he builds combinations/cohesion with his forwards on a consistent basis. Seemed like a hard game to dominate in when there were so many errors. Most of the time he was on we were tackling or coming out of our own end. Very back and forth sloppy game.

I think you’re wrong about Smoothy. He lacks in plenty of areas but he has one of the most beautiful passing techniques and pass consistency you’ve ever seen. He’s Cam Smith passing technique in an otherwise Turpin player.

Did anyone else see the hospital passes to the HB on more than one occasion. Reyno gets one of those and there goes another rib cartlidge.

I agree about his passing game. I was being a bit more shallow than that. I mean aesthetically.

I reckon Mozer must be a Jedi Fitzy .

Without the "cameron Smith clone" accolades from the media I guarantee this forum would have viewed that game different. Kind of reminds me of deardon when they referred to him as "Alf's clone". This forum ate it up until we lost 30 games In a row.

Why though? I think your are stubbornly and naively commenting on stuff you know very limited about. Anybody who has remotely put any effort to watch more than the u19 maroons and this game would know what he is capable of doing. He performed yet again how any hooker in a team that didn’t retain possession would. It was a solid performance. Special? No but it didn’t have to be. Not every NRL game is going to be smooth sailing and for the most part he held his own, had the odd could have done that better moment but in comparison to the rest of the team these were very minor and relatively uncostly moments that generally just halted a play rather than generating a turnover.

Plenty of people who have spent a lot more time watching Mozer and understand his game have said the same thing multiple times. You can choose to ignore it all you like but in no world was his performance today remotely underwhelming and if it was you just don’t have a clue the sort of player he is or how the hooker position works.

I guess your right, with the accolades I just expected a bit more by now, specifically against part time footballers as opposition. Blokes like willison and sailor showed the obvious difference between NRL and Qcup today, even Coby Black looked leagues ahead of his opposite number. Mozer looked like he was exactly where he should be which is totally fine. He's only young after all.

What would you have liked to see from Mozer that you didn’t see?

Ironic example as Dearden was torn to shreds only to go on and actually become a very solid young player.

100%. I was so sad when he left. He was thrust into first grade on potential which I think was very poor management from Siebold. All I'm saying is that's what I see from mozer, he isn't really kicking the door down and shouldn't really be considered for NRL until that happens.. or else we will probably have another Dearden.

Look, I'm sure Mozees a great player, I just haven't seen what the hypes about is all. And as I said, if the media didn't compare him to Smith, this forum wouldn't be eating buckets of his shit like they did with Dearden when he came through.
