2024 NRL General Discussion Thread

Reports are the Balmain part of the merger is in talks with the South Island Kea bid to join forces hoping to become the 19th team.

That would allow the Magpies to become a stand alone club again.
Don't know how that would work with a club having parts of it in 2 separate countries.
Balmain would also want to be careful that the keas don't just use them to get their ticket into the NRL and then down the track just punt them saying "it's too hard in different countries, tigers have a very small home ground, we are putting most of the money in etc. etc."
If I were Balmain I wouldn't do it but what would I know.

Who is Mik?

That's a really easy rumour to make up. The Dogs signing always just seemed like a wheel and deal type situation where Gus was going after any talent he could get his hands on. If it didn't work out, he knew he'd always have a buyer because the whole rift started when Oloapu wanted to join the new franchise.

So much hype over this little wanker that has produced absolutely nothing.
