Q-CUP 2024 Queensland Cup Discussion

Black cops a tough call, but bounces back and puts Coburn over to extend the Magpies lead.

Black looks to spread right, steps, engages two defenders and cuts through the line before putting Coburn in right underneath the black dot.

Earlier it looked like Black was going to go himself only for the official to call a knock on against Black. To the naked eye, it appeared forward of Faatilli and off the legs from Black.

24-14 Magpies

49 gone.

We’re gonna need to calm down about Black but that’s gonna be tough. He’s shown a bit today. So much to learn but that’s to be expected

Some nervous moments for the Magpies there. Pitovao goes close, but the Souths defence was able to converge. Then they nearly get caught on the last but they were able to keep the ball alive and eventually got a good kick away.

It comes to naught as the Falcons receive a penalty right after. However the Falcons are penalised while in possession. Sutton while he was offloading the ball drags Ferguson to the ground and now the Magpies are on the attack.

Leota in no man's land, had to jam in on his centre instead the Falcons are easily able to get it to Gudgeon who's able to score a double.

Some impressive signs from a few of the Melbourne players.

That has to be the longest pre-kick pause for goal in the history of the game.

That was a nice a little bit of DH play from Black... got out and engaged, made the first receiver look a threat and then went to the halfback.

Leota with just his 7th run of the game is able to draw a penalty and the Magpies are on the attack.

Credit to Vaihu early for a good run when the Magpies were working it out of trouble.

And they capitilise. The Magpies stretch the Falcons through the middle. Black races to dummy half, fires it over to Finnegan and he has enough room to dummy and fight his way to the line.

30-18 68 gone.

Vaihu looks like he could be alright.
Was he at the Rebels?? Looks like a decent sized winger who could make some metres coming out
Of trouble

He is a bit rocks and diamonds as you would expect for an 18 year old but I REALLY like what Black might be able to do in terms of getting early ball to Staggs and Aquaman.

Falcons create the numbers, but Lewis hesitates and the pass goes behind Galeano.

3 minutes remaining, Magpies working it out of trouble but Quai-Ward loses it.

Falcons playing till the very end, Gudgeon beats Leota to the kick and the Falcons decide to roll the dice again. They go close but the second kick goes too deep, Black could have potentially been pinged for a professional foul but the referee opts to call time.

Wasn't pretty, but a nice hard fought win by the Magpies.
