Magpies with their first opportunity in the red zone look likely, but the Falcons scramble well. Magpies unlucky not to receive a six again after Coburn appeared to win a penalty.

When in doubt, bomb for Leota and Finnegan goes that way. Not the best kick, but Gudgeon did well to take it.

Falcons with the seven tackle set make the mistake and the Magpies are away. Magpies making good in-roads down their right and Falcons are looking frazzled.

Te Kura senses an opportunity and storms onto the ball close to the line and he's just too big.

Falcons can't stop giving away penalties.

Eggerling goes close but the Falcons scramble well.

I think that's the most selfish and extravagant play from Black I have ever seen in Cup, Meninga or Cyril.

Normally he's a backup the middle, kick high guy.

Black gets a result with an unorthodox kick.

Angled grubber down the sideline looking for Vaihu. It's seemingly too narrow but Galeano can't handle it.

Off the scrum, Robinson is able to beat Gudgeon and flicks it over to Leota who dots down in the corner.

Finnegan with another tough conversion bangs it over and Magpies lead 18-8 with 33 gone.

Adam Jackson reporting that Leota is returning from a shoulder injury, so add him to the tally.

Coburn with a big break off a nice offload. Black earns a goal-line drop out and the Magpies are on the attack.

Ferguson spins out of a tackle, just about crashes over but the Falcons hold on. Finnegan juggles and attempts to pass it. It's a horrible pass and Tararo couldn't salvage it.

Falcons now on the attack after a soft penalty from Black.

Magpies making good in-roads again, Black opts to shift on the last and Quai-Ward has an age to put a grubber in. The Falcons fullback appears lost when he takes the grubber but Gudgeon calls for it and just about breaks through the middle.

All of a sudden the Magpies defence is barely holding on. Six again and the Falcons are looking to go through the front door. They eventually spread it, but pass out of dummy half, but Black over-runs it and Coburn has to save the day. Next play, Quai-Ward loses faith in Black, turns in and Lewis scores on his outside shoulder.

I could see him working beautifully with Mam.
