2026 Pre-Season Discussion

I’m tipping Buckowski to jump Mozer. Injuries just keep hitting Mozer hard when it looks like he might finally make that next step.

Nah not the way I see it .

It`s one injury he has carried for years that has held him back .
His shoulder .Other than that ....
A bit hard to take precautions against breaking your jaw don`t you think ?

That aside
I prefer what I have seen from Bukowski in Q cup .

Billy Walters and Blake Mozer are in that mix for 9/14. We could even get crazy and carry Reynolds on the bench, with Hunt starting at 7, and then mix and match.

Add Bukowski to that equation .

Yeah I’m not saying he is injury prone I’m saying his injuries have hit him hard everytime it looks he may finally get his real shot. It’s been the same shoulder all the time and an unfortunate broken jaw but it’s always horrible timing for him when it happens and in that time Cam he been coming on tremendously.

I agree however, Billy would only come into contention pretty much after R16 so, it’s up to Mozer to showcase what he has got until Billy’s availability.

Ffs, I hope Mozer stays healthy & this is the year where he announces his arrival to 1st grade and consistently play great footy. If not, Bukowski guy might’ve all the attention.
Billy expects he will have to play a few Cup games to get some match fitness, so I would delay expectations. On top of that, if our incumbents haven't completely owned the 9 and 14 by then, we probably won't be traveling all that well. So in terms of seeing Billy back, careful what you wish for.

That said, he might have more chance at 6, where our depth isn't so great. We might even lose Ezra during Origin.

He has to be playing consistent high minutes Cup first, Head didn't do that last year.

It worries me some weeks he got as little as 20 minutes and had to be benched a lot.

Wynnum were infinitely better with him starting and then it was still back to the bench.

Looks like Seibold is planning to play Turbo at fullback.. Not the position to be playing with his injury profile I would have thought.

I think they have lost a bit of faith in Lehi Hopoate being a top tier fullback. He's probably better suited to being a reliable centre / wing long term. In hindsight letting Kaeo Weekes go was a big mistake.

I'm thinking of what happened to Jack Bird when Seibs had him training at FB right after a long injury break. FB is no place for someone with soft tissue concerns to be playing, but what do I know ey? Trust in Seibs for sure :)
