We're 3 games away from knowing were we really stand mid-2012.

Even though the Eagles are tracking at a 50% win rate this year, I still think they are a form team of the comp.

Then after the bye, we have the big one, the benchmark. I never thought I would get the chance to say this, however we should suffer far less during the series this year. Wallace (NSW are idiots), Hoffman, Reed, Glenn will be ready to tear it up after watching the wednesday gane. Thaiday, Hodges, Civo, Gillett, maybe Macguire & Parker are the only Broncos up for selection.

The question is; how much do we read into the Storm game, straight after game 1 & with both sides having players returning? Personally, I'm dying to play (preferably a full strength) the Storm & to a lesser extent, Cronulla.

Win all three and we're serious contenders, lose 2/3 and we're not as well placed to take out the title as previously thought.
If we lose against Melbourne only, well I sort of expect that, they're always in top form in the early part of the season compared to other teams.

2 cents.

I'm more concerned about R24-25 tbh.

R10 will be interesting but the Storm & Sharks game are just mid-season games that generally don't impact on your season.

I'm guessing you like myself saw the graphic onscreen just after the Titans game showing our next three matches. I immediately thought our next three results would give a much truer indication of the progress of our team. It seemed to leap out at the viewer. I expect us to weather the storm so to speak and would hope that we are ultra competitive in all three games even if we go 0 and 3. If we see Broncos getting hammered and not competing then it will have been a false dawn.

As a betting man I would think we are about 12 to 1 to win all three.

Your up late Shaun lol..can't sleep ?

Can't disagree about the picks for O 1 but you left out Wallace for your lot. Despite what has been written I think he's in the mix. R Stuart a few weeks back made a point of saying Wallace was being seriously considered as they look for stability. He went on to say he( Wallace) was a known quantity Stuart saying he knew exactly what he would get.,

melbourne has to be considered our greatest test and Einstein wasn't needed to reach that conclusion !....As i wrote earlier though, any result will not come as a surprise. I'm thinking the same as you though 2 from 3 would be about right. The next game is important. I'm just a little fearful this year that some of our youngsters will become a little complacent about the current success.

Gillett isn't an outside chance. Put him in the certainties column!

We won't learn a lot from the Melbourne game IMO. Hook rests origin stars so we will be playing a few men down. Good test for our young spine though.

just get enough points to make the top 4, then hit form at finals time, simple.

The Melbourne game will be the biggest. If we get through those 3 games well Win 2 or win all 3 we would be considered premiership favourites.

Yep, the news of Thaiday's injury means he will surely be rested. I'd say Hodges won't back up and if Civa is picked either will he. And perhaps Wallace if NSW are smart (I really, really, really want them to go with Pearce on so many levels).

I don't put too much faith in early season form, 2005 still haunts me and our 10 in a row. Will be really nervous from about Round 20 on.

Melbourne, Manly, Cowboys are the 3 teams that worry me the most. Tigers & Bulldogs to a lesser extent. I'm not frightened at all by Cronulla. This could be years of complacency sneaking in, but I don't think they have the depth and the strike power out wide to trouble us.

Really? Over Melbourne?
Not at all, I said they are A form team. Once they are all back on deck, towards the end of the season I see Manly as top 4. Most definitely Storm are THE team again this regular season.

manly next friday is most definitely going to be the toughest game so far this year. as already said melbourne game is two days after origin so while i hope we get the points, it wont mean much other than that.

At least this year, we'll be playing Manly with all the Origin reps, and I can see us smoking them!

Manly game will be a bloody cracker. We had Manly on toast in the major semi last year, pity the poor start. Whether the Broncos have learnt their lesson in the big games will be really interesting to see. No Locky, no worries?

Short(er) turnaround than usual but at home we should have Manly's number.

RE: Storm. Hodges and Thaiday I doubt will play and I'm guessing that one or the other of Gillett or Parker will play off the bench for Qld but pending injury whoever is picked will back up (Parker did last year).

Wallace could be a smoky for a bench spot for the Blues. Defensively he is immense and can play lock or hooker and cover the halves (much like Gidley). He offers more than Farah off the bench if they picked Buderus as starting hooker. Either way, off the bench he'll back up as well.

The Storm game as well will be what last year's grand final should have been and should be a preview of this year's grand final. I think the development of Hunt as halfback genuinely gives Brisbane a contingency in the event of the loss of our starting half (i.e. Wallace 2009, Lockyer 2011).
