He is a workhorse as a player, and someone who adds a lot to the team, but i don't believe he is captaincy material. He doesn't stand out as a motivator / someone the younger players look up to and has that intimidation factor.

I reckon he is a fantastic captain. He was our best player whilst Locky was out, he lifted and lead by example and asked the boys to follow him. Sometimes he is guilty of trying too much in attack, but when we were playing the way we were who could argue with him trying his hand. I have no doubt he's one of those guys who sets the standard at training and is one of those players much more appreciated by his teammates than the supporters. Has easily been our most consistent player the last 3 years.

Most focus on his win/loss record but IMO that has as little baring as anything on whether he is a good captain or not. Like others have said, many of the games hes skippered have been minus Locky and minus the rest of our origin stars. Webcke also took his time to crack up a win if memory serves me correctly, and I don't think anyone ever doubted his leadership ability.

Jason King is a full time club captain with well credentialed leadership qualities eg. RLPA president. For Parker to get the honor is a credit unto himself.

1. I suggested the selection of Parker as captain of the PM's XIII was a joke.
2. It is a joke that Parker is captain of the Broncos when Lockyer is injured or playing origin.
3. There is no credible replacement.

No one is doubting his caliber as a player, we are questioning his captaincy credentials. Where he does lift a gear when he is selected as captain, the other players do NOT seem motivated nor inspired. A lot of the times when Parker is captain we are missing our best players and are getting nailed on the scoreboard but that doesn't mean that we should concede that many tries. It is the captains position to motivate and inspire his team mates to try harder, and even though they are loosing to still put in the effort and not get completely outplayed and eventually give up.

I have read reports that stated that early in Lockys captaincy career he wasn't agreat captain either, butbe grew into therole to become one of the best captains in the game. I believe that Parker could do something similar. Im not saying be would become the best captain in the game, but be could certainly become a good captain for our great club.

Big difference is Lockyer is the best player to ever play for the Broncos. I would follow him into the mists of avalon.

Like beads said, Lockyer had an aura about him from when he first started. You can't compare the two.

Because they are probably to naive to even consider a Bronco player to be not a good selection and are the type of fan that would try to convince you that any player to ever pull on a Broncos jersey ever is awesome.

Personally, I would have picked Bowen as captain.
