9 ditching Friday night football for Royal Wedding?

As long as the footy is live, I don't care if it's on Nine of GEM.

As far as Foxtel goes, with all the digital channels and if you have a recorder like TiVo and get Bigpond movies you really don't need Foxtel. The only advantage I can see to Foxtel is the sports channels. And there's plenty of live streaming channels on the internet anyway.

Yeh but seriously who wants to watch sport on a computer?

Yeah... I kind of like watching sport with decent quality too.

Exactly, and the HD quality through Foxtel is very good. Give me footy in HD on my 42" TV over footy on a small laptop with shit quality any day. Just praying that 9 put the footy in HD this season instead of playing Bewitched or something on GEM.

I have Foxtel and wouldn't be without it. I gave it away a few years ago - that lasted about 10 weeks [icon_lol1.

Minimum package price is $44 per month, then add in $16 for sports for $60 minimum to view the sports channels

Add another $10 to upgrade to HD if you want it

ok so Tivo is $500....Bigpond movies what $20 a month? so $240 a year on that $740

Foxtel from Rockys plan is $876 for the year with IQ 2 which does everything Tivo does anyway.

so for another $136 a year Rocky gets to watch Sport in HD on the tv while you sit there streaming it on your computer just to save $12 a month.

Tivo is a one off cost, whereas Foxtel is a monthly cost. BigPond movies is great, I get can BluRay movies for around $3 each and don't have to worry about late fees. Also I have a DVI connection and a widescren on my computer, so the quality of picture I receive from the streams is very high.

I agree.

DVI connection or widescreen(lol isn't everything these days) have absolutely zero effect on quality. It all depends on the stream itself which in my experience is almost always a crappy quality, can barely make out the scoreboard timer but it does the job and for free I won't complain. I only need a few times a year when Broncos games aren't on FTA.

I would love foxtel but will only consider it when they have a sports only option(I seriously don't care about anything else) for like $30 or less, then it could be worth it otherwise I'll stick to the free options.

I found a top quality streaming site and it is very good. The only sports I really watch anyway are Cricket and Rugby League, so I only need the live streams for Big Bash games and Australian overseas games. So, don't really have a great need to pay for Foxtel to watch those two sports.

FTA tv gives me most of the Broncos games, all the home cricket matches and at least one Milwaukee Bucks game a week, so I"m content. Any extra stuff I need can be streamed.

Plus with TiVo my wife can watch her shows and I can watch what I want when I need to.

Everyone gets Kate & Wills commemorative plates for Christmas. Yay. Kate & Wills. (*note sarcasm*)

This is why I am buying foxtel this year.
