Alex Mc Kinnon our thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Well even at this level he should be able to equal the input of Anthony Tupou or Adam Cuthbertson.

Great news!

Incredibly unlikely he'll play again, but to regain that level of control by this juncture bodes well for his long term mobility and quality of life.

Very happy for him. I really hope he can walk again.

With all the attention around McKinnon does anybody remember Adam Ritson?

Forgot exactly how I got to know about this as I was only a baby at the time but Ritson was talked up as the next big thing in the game and was signed to a big money contract at Parramatta. 11 games in he suffered a head high tackle and was revealed he had a brain cyst and almost died from brain surgery and spent months in a rehab centre learning to walk, eat, talk etc again. Because of this he had to retire at 20.

Because I am old, I remember him & the story.

He was a Cronulla player & when the Super League war broke out, he signed with the ARL & he became a Parra player.

He was tackled by John Lomax. When the Dr's discovered the brain cyst they said the high tackle saved his life, as they wouldn't have detected it.

He tried to sue Lomax & then shifted to suing the Raiders (who Lomax played for) & he got a six figure sum.

Too soon.....

Really happy for him although I always expected he would gain some mobility. I actually believe he'll walk again personally. This is actually something a little close to my heart tbh. My aunty's husband suffered a very similar injury around 13yrs ago, on the footy field under very innocuous circumstances....

Unfortunately he never regained full mobility but he seriously does have a great life with no real complaints.....and, fortunately, his pecker still works.

I missed that, did he mention much about his recovery or any progress? Glad to hear he's being positive about his recovery, he's a good kid.

Great news. He's already ahead of Hodges most days a week.
