Some very popular players would be missing out...especially in the Eels with Hindmarsh (the most consistently popular player in the league over the last 5+ years) up against flash in the pan man of the moment Jarryd Hayne.

The nature of the beast IMO.

Teams based on race DO get dangerous but as long as everything is kept in perspective I think it would be a great concept.

I believe the scheduling of the game early in the season should help keep it in prospective.

I'm considering going myself, it looks as though i have that weekend off

Yeah. And I mean Skilled Park is a hole of a stadium, and Robina is a hole of a suburb, but if you can spend the afternoon down at Broadbeach or Burleigh then make your way to the game, make a day of it!

preston campbell is autopicked for the indigenous team as it's his idea.

darren lockyer, cameron smith, benji marshall and adam blair are auto picked for the all stars being the aus/nz captains and vice captains. each squad has 20 players.

once the fans have voted in the indigenous team lineup, then vote 1 player from each club plus a wildcard for the all stars. so the wildcard will prob see hindmarsh in if his popularity holds.

How do the factor in a wildcard? If there is 20 players in the squad and 4 are auto picks and then each of the 16 clubs gets a player - well there's your full squad right there, no room for a wildcard.

And I still go back to one of my original questions about the make-up of the team from fan votes. If every club's one player voted is a centre (for example); who actually makes the call on who plays even though they weren't the top voted player from their club and who doesn't play even though they were the top voted player from there club. There must be more to the process of the team selection.

I was struggling to choose which backs to leave out in the Indigenous side. Forwards on the other hand, I was struggling. I had to go with some promising rookies (Waddell, Joel Thompson) and Carl Webb in the pack. Plus Dell as a bench forward.

The Daily Telegraph said that Neil Henry and Wayne Bennett have agreed to be wired up so that TV audiences can hear their speeches to the teams at quarter time. Unless it was just a typo, this game may be a testing ground for some of the ideas in the pipeline for the game.

I'd say they are playing in quarters because the game is in summer and it could be ridiculously hot.

1. Inglis
2. Yow Yeh
3. Hodges
4. Tahu
5. N. Merritt
6. Thurston
7. Prince
8. Learoyd-Lahrs
9. Waddell
10. Rose
11. Thaiday
12. Paterson
13. J. Thompson

14. Soward
15. Sailor
16. Webb

Assuming Campbell's automatic selection would be at fullback, Inglis would shift back to centre and I'd put Tahu on Merritt's wing.

That's mad. If anyone has seen soundFX or sounds of the game in the NFL, its pretty sweet getting an insight into waht coaches/players have to say during the game.

I remember it was mooted that the games be played in quarters to draw out the length of a telecast and make the game more attractive to broadcasters.
