All Stars Game 2010

The Daily Telegraph said that Neil Henry and Wayne Bennett have agreed to be wired up so that TV audiences can hear their speeches to the teams at quarter time. Unless it was just a typo, this game may be a testing ground for some of the ideas in the pipeline for the game.

Very interesting indeed. Personally if I was a coach, I wouldn't like it at all but I have to admit it is great for the fans.

Apparantly there is a feature special or something out there that followed Brownie for a day or something in the coaches box - and he goes off his head. :D

How do the factor in a wildcard? If there is 20 players in the squad and 4 are auto picks and then each of the 16 clubs gets a player - well there's your full squad right there, no room for a wildcard.

And I still go back to one of my original questions about the make-up of the team from fan votes. If every club's one player voted is a centre (for example); who actually makes the call on who plays even though they weren't the top voted player from their club and who doesn't play even though they were the top voted player from there club. There must be more to the process of the team selection.

Yeh there must be some sort of boundaries... you can't have a team full of centres.

i would love to see Yow Yeh get picked for this. and im guessing Hodges and Inglis are 100% same with Thurston and Prince. This team could be very dangerous.

I was struggling to choose which backs to leave out in the Indigenous side. Forwards on the other hand, I was struggling. I had to go with some promising rookies (Waddell, Joel Thompson) and Carl Webb in the pack. Plus Dell as a bench forward.

yeah a hell of alot of backs to choose from.

whats the link for your side come on

1. Inglis
2. Yow Yeh
3. Hodges
4. Tahu
5. N. Merritt
6. Thurston
7. Prince
8. Learoyd-Lahrs
9. Waddell
10. Rose
11. Thaiday
12. Paterson
13. J. Thompson

14. Soward
15. Sailor
16. Webb

Assuming Campbell's automatic selection would be at fullback, Inglis would shift back to centre and I'd put Tahu on Merritt's wing.

Where are Marshall and Blair?

And what about guys like Inglis and Soward who might get selected for both teams? Who decides who they play for?

If you see the layout of voting you vote per position, so really you aren't going to select all centres unless you're an idiot?

This is how I've voted:
1 Matt Bowen
2 Nathan Merritt
3 Greg Inglis
4 Justin Hodges
5 Willie Tonga (tough one, edging out Wendell Sailor and Jharal Yow Yeh for my vote)
6 Johnathan Thurston
7 Scott Prince
8 Carl Webb
9 Jake Friend
10 Tom Leroyd Lahrs
11 Corey Paterson
12 Sam Thaiday
13 Joel Moon

14 Jamie Soward
15 George Rose
16 Yilleen Gordon (just edging out Idris)
17 Preston Campbell (automatic selection and captain)

A lot of good backs miss out!

Inglis and Soward will be placed with a nice, respectable white Christian team to save them from their poor upbringing.

I was considering doing it. Because I can.

I'm guessing that the Aboriginals play for their indigenous team first if they're selected.

the NRL all stars voting starts after the Indig team voting finishes.

1. M. Bowen
2. T. Tahu
3. J. Hodges
4. G. Inglis
5. W. Tonga
6. J. Thurston
7. S. Prince
8. G. Rose
9. PJ Marsh
10. C. Webb
11. T. Learoyd-Lahrs
12. S. Thaiday
13. J. Moon

14. D. Lawrie
15. C. Paterson
16. J. Idris
17. P. Campbell

see i wanted to put marsh at Hooker but Friend has alot more game time and Marsh i reckon is a hit or miss ya dont know what your gonna get.

That's fine for the indigenous team, but in everything I have seen/read/heard for the All Stars team it is going to be fans vote 1 player per club (not per position).

Exactly, thats what I mean... I'm assuming the indi team voting would go something like this:

Centre:
Inglis, Hodges, Joe Blow, Harry, Dick, Tom

The public would then vote and the top 2 will be nominated centres - ala Hodges/Inglis. Same would work for one spot positions such as Halfback etc.

Im just trying to think how they would do this for the All stars?

Yep I'm with you Lock - have asked that question since the idea of fans voting for the one player per club side first came out.

maybe its the top voted person in each position?
