hat trick to Yow Yeh man of the match on a losing side!

The NRL All Stars could be looking for a new fullback after Melbourne Storm's Billy Slater went down at training with a right ankle problem on Monday.

Officials say they will know more in the next 24 hours, with medical staff monitoring Slater's condition.

At this stage it's unknown whether he will recover in time for Saturday night's clash with the Indigenous All Stars on the Gold Coast.

Slater fell down at a ball work drill at Coogee Oval on Monday morning and had to be assisted off the field

Wow this game is looking bad

I have a feeling it will turn out similar to the NFLs Pro Bowl. A chance for the stars to get together and play a half-assed game. Really it should be at the end of the season - what if Israel or Locky does an ACL or another key player at another club has a season ender? It will really put the future of the pre season all star game into jeopardy.

Don't get me wrong, I am keen as to watch thsi game, but frankly a bit skeptical on how it'll turn out.

No doubt about it... injuries in exhibition matches are the WORST.

Really bad for the club and player... e.g Mason in that match in the states.

Ended up missing about 20 odd matches didn't he?

Meh I believe a bit in fate when it comes to injuries, if a player is going to get a major injury he's going to get a major injury - if it happens in an exhibition, a trial match or the first match of the season proper - the result is pretty much the same.

Surprised Locky didnt get nominated for the Indig team, given his love for alcohol

He was an automatic selection for the All Stars as Australian Captain. HTH.

im 1/30000th Indig and i find that remark racist.

I also hope my son can one day play for the Indig team.

I'm 1/8th Maori. My mother was adopted, and after tracking down her birth mother a few years ago found out her father was half maori. We have no proof or evidence, just my grandmother's word for it...fair bet that would be enough to let me play rugby league for NZ maori if I was good enough.

Sad but true.

You're Nathan Fien.

Well no...I really do have a part-Maori grandfather.... :P
Oh, that and the fact my mum has her birth certificate to show she was born in NZ. I qualify for NZ automatically.

Shouldn't you be keeping the undesirables out the local right at the moment, coxy?

true story my grand mother actually was 50% Maori.

We could be NZ's answer for a the halves.

LOLZ. I know my missus isn't thrilled with my background...my son inherited the Maori head...very big :P

yeh both my boys got that as well lol.

Yeah. Luke's head is only 1 or 1.5cm bigger than his older brother's but that was enough for it to be excruciating apparently.
