Spot on, if both parties agree, contracts can be amended/modified and regularly are
This situation is a bit different though, is it not?

What you’ve outlined is absolutely correct, but I believe the NRL also has to sign-off and register any and all contracts. So in effect, they have to also agree to the changes.

I’m sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but that’s my understanding.

No doubt you are correct, I should have said ALL parties in this case

If this is true what is the issue? If he accepts it he clearly wants to stay and will be motivated to play well/not be a dick to get a good contract again. I hate this board as much as anyone but I am not going to kick them for actually doing something well.

A great forward taking up less money who has incentive to do well? Oh no how awful...
100% agree.

i was reading the reactions of some and thinking ok i must've missed something here cause I can't see how this is a bad outcome at all.

Exactly. If he gives him the weekend other clubs will contact him knowing he got a reduced deal offer. Pathetic negotitation skills by the Broncos if true
I'm not so sure about that - when this all started "he was sacked" - so clubs could go in at any level as there was no contract to compete against (at least according to the media). Only dogs and warriors wanted a piece, I would doubt they would be throwing the bank at him as many other clubs came out publicly condemning him.

If his existing contract gets torn up and they offer him a cut price deal - I think there's a win all round no matter the result. If he walks, not our problem anymore, huge amount off our salary cap for a hot head who likes to get suspended and has bad hammys. If he stays, we get him cheap for 12 months, won't matter as much if he's missing a bit of footy, he might turn it around and bust his ass for a better contract in '22.

Why does it have to be black and white?
Consider it a lifeline.
They come out and tell TPJ they have everything they need to sack him on the spot, but are willing to give him one more chance under new circumstances. Contract is revised, new clauses added, everybody is happy.

I am not sure there are any laws or rules in place regarding renegotiation's of a contract based on certain circumstances.
As far as the Rorters having a field day with these conditions, they would first need a player to repeatedly break the rules and be on the verge of having his NRL registration torn up before they could exploit this.

I dont know the legalities around NRL contracts to make a call on this mind you, i just assume that under certain circumstances contracts can be flexible to an extent.
Did the NRL not allow the R Farrah contract to be renegotiated.

With the massive dip in TV Ratings due to the broncos suffering, I actually think the Broncos have a fair bit of power over the NRL right now too. They desperately need us to start firing. Time to cash in on a rare opp and throw our weight around a bit.

Source on ratings dip?

I know I've been switching off at half time for a lot of games, and even getting to the point where I'll skip games like Storm/Roosters.

Or just Google. Many articles about it

How are ever going to agree on a coach.

This is the biggest example of hypocrisy I can remember.
Morris having the gaul to say he is upset that pangi junior has brought the club into disrepute.
Yes pangi junior has done the wrong thing but that pales into insignificance to the wreckage and disaster that this **** has visited on the club in the last 2 years.
**** me how does the **** lay straight in bed at night.
If pangi junior is sacked for his sins fucken Morris should be put in jail and the key thrown away.
Useless prick.

Karl Morris and News Corp delegate Neil Monaghan want him gone.
Darren Lockyer and Tony Joseph willing to give another go.
Lockyer has been mentoring him, thinks he's only starting to mature.
Morris will get the deciding vote.

Lockyer must be a soft touch as a board member.

I mean thats what I could find, but it the rating comparisons weren't comparing it from this season to last, it was comparing this seasons ratings to the opening round of a sports starved covid hit nation. So it was apples to oranges.

Not sure he's brought the club into disrepute but he's certainly shown he can't be trusted.
