Andrew McCullough - The Great Enigma

Compared to his last 2 years, yes. But still better than he was playing when Henjak was in charge.
I'm not defending Griffin though. He's clearly better than Henjak, but that's like saying electric chair is better than drowning.

Actually Parker too, I guess, he was always a gun, but now he's a gun with an offload.

That's the way I figured. Parker has always been a solid player .......but not at the levels he's constantly playing now. He's improved his game out of sight and appears to have flourished under the coaching of Griffin.

I take Porthoz' point. Aside from a handful of games in 2008, McCullough has had to play under two coaches who were brand spankin' new to first grade and it certainly wasn't ideal to his development.

However, McCullough has to take responsibility for some of his flaws. The sooner he eliminates them, the better we will be.

He isn't alone in that department. Turning the focus back on Hook for a moment, the sooner he introduces more enterprising attacking structures, the better off this team will be. Too often, players are standing around in a flat-line, carting the ball up for a play that is so well telegraphed that even Blind Freddy could negate it.

I'll be interested to see how Macca performs without Hodges pinching his quick play the balls and virtually wiping out any chance of going down the right hand side.

To raise a point in the "after 5 years he should be better" argument - KHunt started playing at 18 too, or was it 17? Was he better at 22-23?

Having said that though, I'm still backing Macca for now. Would love to see pressure on him via Granville on the bench, and I expect it will happen next year once Wallace is wearing black again. I believe he is capable of a lot more than we've seen, I'd love to see him under a quality coaching staff (ours clearly is not this year). He's got next year to stand up for mine and get consistent; every year he talks about it in the pre-season, just do it FFS!

Can't compare the development of a back to a forward.

I agree it's as frustrating as hell.....especially when you see them actually stand deep in attack "on occasion" and score points every time or come close to it.

I think it's there in the game plan, just the players responsible for executing the plan....failed to do so. I'll agree with some criticisms on Griffin's coaching but laying all the bad form from various players on him is a bit rich.

The individual players themselves have to be held accountable .......

I realise that Pete, but it's still a fair illustration. I do think Macca is capable of more: KHunt was also playing with Locky, and under Wayne, Macca's never had a similar opportunity.

Macca is an awesome player. He's a great tackler. Any update on his injury???

Maccas problem is our pack is too light. We are going okay early in matches but as the game goes on we are getting run over. Fix our pack and you will fix not only Maccas problem but the whole team will benefit.

So true a couple of big unit's to rip in early then our lighter guys to come on and cause havoc with some quick play the balls and short balls between them

How can the pack be too light with Thaiday in it.
The problem is fitness and skill not weight.

The Problem is the bench and the use of Thaiday being poor.

8. Hannant
9. Macca
10. McGuire
11. Glenn
12. Gillett
13. Parker

I'm wrapped with a pack like that and it's a premiership winning pack, the let down is the poor bench..

I'd like to see,

14. Baptise
15. Dodds
16. Tasi
17. Kennedy

18. Thaiday

Why Baptise over Granville? I don't watch much QLD cup. Ok I lied, I don't watch any QLD cup.

Macca had an awesome end to the season, hopefully he can bring that for every game next year. Im a huge fan of him and think him and parker are consistently our best defenders. With decent halves I think he could be one of the best hookers in the game.

If we don't get Milford he could find himself at 5/8.
