Andrew McCullough

A couple of reasons.

1. He's useless for 50 of those 55 minutes.
2. For some reason the Broncos have decided to have a replacement hooker on the bench.

I thought his passes out of dummy half were a little quicker last match? Was I just imagining things?

I thought they were both ordinary to be honest. Baptiste was obviously only in his first game though so not going to criticise him too much.

3. Perhaps he isn't fit enough for the full 80?

Once he gets that one stuff up out of his game he'll end up as one of the games best hookers.

Sucks though as Baptiste could potentially be better.

Baptise was pretty ordinary today. Can't see how he can be 'potentially' better. McCullough has great defence and has shown he does have a very handy kicking game. He ticks all the boxes he just needs to do it more consistency. Don't see Baptise having as many weapons. Might end up being better, but can't say right now he is 'potentially' better.

Are you sure you are watching Baptiste??? He is quick which instantly makes him having a much bigger weapon than McCullough.

I've got to agree here with Wright, I thought McCullough had a fairly decent game today. I guess there are pro's and con's to both players. Baptiste may be quicker out of dummy half, but his defense is shocking compared to McCullough's. Plus Baptiste hasn't put it any kicks so far, so by the looks of it doesn't have a kicking game (unless someone wants to correct me here).

If McCullough ups the ante in his service, and cuts those stupid mistakes he makes at least once a game (getting the ball whacked out of his hands at dummy half) he'd be great.

Baptiste IS better IMO.

Macca is going through his purple patch atm and still manages to be slower than my grandma after hip surgery. We had all the momentum and once again he gets the ball knocked out of his hands FFS! [icon_non

I don't know whether Baptiste has a kicking game, but even without one, he'd be my first choice any day of the week and twice on weekends! Macca could be a handy lock though... eusa_think

One major thing that I think a lot of people should pay attention to is that Macca does sooooo much more defence than Baptise. As well as this, Baptise comes on at points in the game when the opposition forwards are tired. Of course he is going to look so much crisper and nippier than Macca in these circumstances. Switching Baptise and Macca's roles won't do any good in my opinion. Sure Baptise will still play well, I'm not taking that from him, I rate him highly. But it will just be completely different to the role he has been playing lately and he isn't known to be a defensive workhorse, and he only plays 60 odd minutes in the U20s anyway. So the role he is playing off the bench is how it should stay for now unless Macca majorly goes downhill.

Macca had a good game today. I don't know if he was tired, but taking him off was a big mistake (easy to say in hindsight, I know). We lost our momentum and it was no surprise that Hook put him back on quickly.

As a few have mentioned already, all Macca needs to do is get the stupid little mistakes out of his game, and play with some more consistency and he will be fantastic. He really isn't as big of a liability as some people make out, hes worth persisting with.

We lost our momentum with Macca on the field, the Raiders scored their first try out of the usual balle getting knocked out of Macca's hands.
I'll give big wraps to his defense and he has a good kicking game, but he's just too slow to play in the 9. And speed is something that cannot be taught!

We would have been a better team with Baptise or whatever his name is today. Someone to help hold things together from the halves.

Macca doesn't do that, because he forgets it's a team sport, and he goes off to be a hero.

Momentum shifted when Macca came on. Because he came on to play back row. We had Macca, Baptiste, Wallace and Norman all on together...and the Raiders ran their big morons at us.

Having 2 hookers in the 17 is POINTLESS.

Macca, Baptiste, don't really care. Probably a case of better the devil you know. But FFS, give us an extra forward on the bench.
