Anthony Milford Discussion

Quality player but needs to prove his worth on a more regular basis. I've got faith.

Can we get back to fat shaming Milford. It's getting off track here..

It's hard to keep discussing it as he just keeps ballooning out, hard to believe he's 62kg overweight running sideways.

that guy is great, the OG video is gold.

Let's not sugar coat it, Hunt was dog shit last year. You're the only person on the entire forum who took it personally, Milford got bashed way less because A) He was the best Half in the comp for the first 9 or 10 rounds and B) He's 5 years younger than Hunt. We've been over this a million times, yes, realistically Milford should've shouldered a little more criticism last year, but as you know, he's a fan favourite and arguably the most exciting player in the league to watch when he's going.

It's not some super conspiracy theory like you think it is, it's just common sense and human nature. It might be about time for you to grow up and get on with life instead of ruining every thread with your sarcastic crap, because you're actually a good poster when you're not being a wank.

Anyway, back on topic, I'm done with derailing every thread with the same conversation.

I don't think we're going to sign anyone that we don't view as a potential 5+ year partner for Milford, so we can probably cross off about 15 of the names that have been thrown around. The most likely scenario is that we have a year of Nikorima & Milford in the halves (Which has potential to be absolute trash), at which point we should have a decent amount of coin in the cap to throw a boat load at the best available Halfback's for 2019.. The only guys who are either off-contract or could become available who might fit the bill in 2018 are guys like Shaun Johnson, Mitchell Moses, Moses Mbye, Kane Elgey.. And I'm not sure we view any of them as long-term options, more so "potential" players, which we don't necessarily want to partner with Milford, who needs someone reliable and steady to lead the team around.

Hunt wasn't good last year but Milford surpassed him on the shit scale and we still spoke about Hunt every day. I don't think it's a conspiracy at all. In fact I put it down to those main culprits being trolls last year too. But if you or Porthoz think my posts are over the top then you both need to take a good hard look in the mirror and stop being hypocrites. My criticism of Milford will stop when he stops giving me a reason to criticize him and I really do look forward to that happening, hopefully this week. Even this year the excuses for Milford have been ridiculous and no matter how sarcastic my posts have been, they're somewhat legitimate because he has been fucking diabolical.

In saying that, I'm also done with you derailing every thread with the same conversation. So let's move on..

Never said he didn't look any good! just pointing out that the compition over here is better , and in that case he wouldn't look that impressive.
Maybe it would limit his running game but if he were to put those kicks up for Oates/Pearson etc. they'd still work. So would his broken play kicks, especially with players like Roberts and Milford chasing them. It's hardly about potential, he has a pretty damn good chance of making it over here. This isn't like Tomkins or Burgess coming over strictly based on their running game. He has skills that translate, like Widdop.

Not sure why you group me with Porthoz in these tirades, I've been more critical of Milford this season than anyone, I don't discriminate, if I think someone is playing shit, I'll say it. Hence me riding Hunt all of last season and not riding him as much this season, because guess why, he's playing better..

Because last year you were tag team partners bashing Hunt at every opportunity.

The reality is, given Taylor and Croft are off the market, it has to be Widdop or take a punt on a youngster. We should sign up Widdop asap in my opinion. The way the Dragons are going, his price will just continue to go up. Get him now while we can afford him. He is a Broncos fan and contrary to the popular opinion I suppose, I actually think he is and can be an organising half.

How many good games has he really played in the last 3 seasons?

He deserved a bashing last year mate, he was woeful. I'm sorry that I have higher expectations of our more experienced half that was coming fresh off a season where he was arguably a top 3 player..

That's fair, and Milford deserves a bashing in every thread this year too, right? Now I'm confused by your issue with my posts.

Different circumstances, Milford wasn't a great player last year, he's just doing more of the same this year. Hunt went from brilliant to below average. But he deserves criticism for sure, if only because his work ethic doesn't seem to be that flash (Could be wrong I guess.. but it seems that way to me)

Milford was a great player in 2015 and ten games (A few more here and there) last year and I for one expect more from someone who is taking our club hostage for a million dollars a season based on how good he once was.

I'm a bit sick and tired of the continuous hyperbole and lies. Here are my opinions on the subject since at least 2014, and I dare anyone to prove otherwise:

- Jordan Kahu, whom I have followed for many years in his youth career since he came to Keebra Park, has been unlucky with his injuries, but he's a gun back with above average skills, who can play almost anywhere in the backline.
- Ash Taylor, who came through school and club footy alongside my own son, is a pure bred halfback with all the skills we lack in our halves. He's going to be a top half in the future and I'm really worried we are going to lose him.
- Hunt is a great tough running half, and I admire his loyalty to the club. Unfortunately, he lacks the kicking, control and organisation to be a top halfback. However he's a fantastic 5/8, but given we already have Milford there, who is a very similar player, but better, younger and with a bigger learning curve, I would prefer someone with the skills to compliment Milford.

Shock, horror, the hypocrisy!

For the record, I resisted Boyd's recruitment, because I knew he would automatically get the FB spot, when I preferred Milford as FB, Hunt as 5/8 and Taylor as HB, and if Boyd did come, I would've preferred him in the 3/4 line.

I've NEVER defended sacking Hunt or replacing him, unless we had someone better! We didn't last year.

P.S. I'll give anyone 3 guesses as to whom has been most critical of the above opinions in the last 3 years, and which players he has been bagging most since... I reckon no one will need all 3 guesses.
