NEWS Anthony Seibold safe as Brisbane Broncos board assess wreckage

Of course he's safe.

I'm as big a critic as anyone but the only thing that could be worse than our current season would be sacking Seibold and starting over again. He needs to be given 2 years at a minimum, if we start next season 3-9 or something, maybe it may start to look very dangerous but I'm willing to give it at least until next season.

But we HAVE to improve, and by a fair margin. If we get blown off the park every 4th game next year, his career is going to be on a tight rope. All most fans would ask for is to show genuine improvement, something similar to Manly of this year.

Not necessarily world beaters but just turn up to every game, fight for every inch, every ruck battle, total commitment and effort every game. Just fucking compete. We shouldn't be going into games knowing we're going to get destroyed. Every single game we go into, the other team should be worried about facing us.

This season was a shambles but any coach deserves a season grace period.

Personally I think he should be given till halfway through 2021... and the only reason for that is he has to wade through this God awful mess of contracts.

The board are trying to distance themselves by putting it on Seibold to fix these monumental contract **** ups that the administration put in place.

At the end of 2020 those contracts will be largely drying up (although Macca, Bird and Milf all have options and Gillett 2 more years)... the coach definitely does not have the team he wants at the moment and 1 off season with immovable contracts won't change things.

The administration has put us in this mess and have to let the coach sort it out, but they have to fucking know it will take until at least 2021 before all the shit they created starts to clear up

From a performance perspective the only way I could see him being sacked is if the side had of collected the wooden spoon, the backlash and media coverage would have been even more extreme. They will make it very clear to him they expect results in 2020 no doubt. I do agree he should be given till 2021, though I think it's also only fair to see improvement in 2020 as well, I'm not expecting a premiership overnight, but there are areas that clearly can and should have improvement.

What I would like to know is have the broncos set a benchmark for him to achieve next season ie top 4, top 6 etc.
One would think that improvement is expected so just falling into the 8 like this season will not suffice.
In my view the club has failed this season so the pressure will be on next year.
From what I hear siebold is big on kpi’s and that sort of thing so it would be interesting to know if he has been given one for next year.
I hope sooner rather than later white comes out and makes a public statement about what the clubs goals are next year so everyone is clear about what they want to achieve.

I didn't see any real change in the way we played the game. To me it doesn't matter about who was in the team or contracts or anything else, we had 17 players each week and there were no plays, no new techniques, no clearly rehearsed set ups, no direction and no controlled movements. I expected to see some coherence even if it was just one play that had been carefully rehearsed and attempted time and again.

I thought I'd see at least one Bellamy type play, at least one. It absolutely does not matter who plays a role in the play but that a play is in motion. It seemed directionless, either off the cuff or an individual like Haas or Fifita doing something.

For me this is on Seibold. If it was me or one of you guys on this forum I'm sure you would have had a play or two that you'd drill into the team, our signature move if you like. All I really saw after 5, 10, 20,25 rounds were a bunch of guys who didn't know what was coming next. This has to be Seibolds fault, his coaching.

Hey, I could be wrong too, I just might not have been observant enough but for most of the year it looked lik they'd hardly ever played together. I'd love to see the Walker brothers come in as our 'Plays ,Specialist Team Advisors'.

Same here, have seen 'no trick shots' whatsoever from our team.
Maybe except that Oates, 2nd man crash close to the line which only worked once.
Milford, Hunt and Nikorima had some special calls back in 15/16 which were pretty exciting.

You see Souths just produce something out of nowhere every game this season and you wonder if Seibold actually had anything to do with them.

Cannot take another year of 'bland football' consisting of one out hit ups by Darius on the 5th :brickwall:

Despite me being down on him, and with him now being the worst coach in our history, i'm quite positive about how we will go next year under him. He needs to get ruthless to save his career and reputation, and we have to back whatever he wants to do as a club or we turn into an also ran. Exciting times ahead despite this car crash of a year.

To be fair, you should qualify 'the worst coach in our history' by prefixing 'currently' if you're 'quite positive' about his coming year. As it sounds initially that you have written him off.

A 44% win rate might be the peak of his Bronco career. How the **** is he going to get these guys in the playoffs next year?

Would have been worse unless for Macca's 'fortunate' injury that bumped it up to 44%.

I'll change it when he isnt the worst coach in our history 😁

Tbh, i still have huge doubts about him. I dont like the way he has gone about things at all this year.

People who want Siebold gone right now, clearly don't understand how hamstrung he was this season.

It would be the most retarded action that the Broncos could possibly do during the off season, outside of signing Boyd to another 2 years.

I've been fairly impressed with how he has handled himself off the field. Not at all impressed with how he had the team playing however and very disappointed with his team selections all year.

I'm sorry, that's a sweeping statement. Look at his roster. How much better would this side be with D Lockyer in it. That's what the others had.

I find this really hard to believe.

He has a deer in the headlights expression on his face at all times.
