Anzac Test

I hope it was just nerves, but the class difference between Thurston/Locky and Cronk/Thurston was obvious from the 20th minute.

To be fair to Cronk, Thurston/Locky have had years of experience, working together for Australia & QLD.

Sheens is a factor too.

I remember back in '09 it appeared Lockyer/JT didn't even know each other based on the way the team was formatted.

Yep. And kiwi defence seemed to be swearing on Hodges and inglis so weren't many opportunities to attack

Anyone else wish this game was played on the 25th?

It really should be IMO. **** the petty tradition of Dragons vs Roosters. It just makes sense that Australia play New Zealand on Anzac day.

Because it involves 2 **** Sydney teams. AUS vs NZ would be way more appealing IMO

To be fair, the Dragons/Roosters game on ANZAC day generally is quite good. That said, I think the ANZAC test would be infinitely better served by being on ANZAC day. It would give the test much more meaningful and relevance, because as everyone knows, right now I think it has none!

Not true.

This was the first close game since 2005. The rest have been comfortable victories...mainly to the Dragons.

Get your QLD goggles off for once. You're embarrassing. Both teams have a proud history and deserve the right to play on Anzac day.

So do Australia and New Zealand.

Dragons & Roosters/Warriors & Melbourne doesn't affect the competition as much as a mid-week test does.

They've just had a weekend off club footy for rep footy so can't see a big difference. Would be like backing up for origin.

Rocky's not suggesting that they don't. He's just saying that just because QLD doesn't have an interesting in seeing the Chooks play the Dragons, it doesn't mean it's not worthy of being on ANZAC day. And he's right, it really is a very good event, and probably the only time all year the Roosters play in front of more than 10,000 people.

That said, it's a bit strange to have an ANZAC test and not take advantage by putting it on ANZAC day. Of course, nothing that scrapping the test couldn't solve =)

Which as a Broncos fan I've never been a fan of and still affects us more than this quality game did.

Not to mention a middle of the road table game drew 40K, which was more than the test match but yeah let's scrap it.

Do people realise we had last weekend off to accommodate the Anzac day games? Couldn't have a round finish Monday and have another start Wednesday.

Representative weekend was a name given to make it reasonable
