I know it isn't the same level or context but there are certainly shades of Gilly in this knock by Head.
Smith is definitely better. My post was in response to the discussion that runs/wickets isn't a true reflection of how great a player is.Are you okay mate?

Clarke has played 38 more games and has got 1 more 100 and less 50’s. As well as only 1000 more runs. Steve shits on him in every way (batting wise) except for high score but if you want to use that as your method of judgement Warner is better than both of them.
I went to watch Aus A yesterday and thought the batting was poor. Too many dismissals that weren't near Test quality and every single one of them missed a chance.
Inglis tapping up to the bowler, Khawaja scratching around. It was just horrible. No pressure was applied to the Test side.
Test side, Head was just terrific, tough and resilent. 100 in a session doesn't happen too often- third Australian since '38 in an Ashes. He read the game situation well and batted quickly but sensible.
I thought England bowlers were pretty good, they had that period in the middle where I thought they got on top. Robinson and Wood are carrying a hell of a load.
Head's knock and Head's head knock were two of the best I've ever seen.
To be fair, the English selectors should be sacked for picking this rubbish side for their first test. I too feel sorry for Wood and Robinson. Stokes is broken and Woakes has never been good in Australian conditions. They also do what Aussie selectors used to do and just keep throwing their spinners under the bus by showing no faith in them and not giving them an extended run. No wonder Leach was bowling poorly yesterday, he lacks confidence and is ridiculously underdone.
Head has always been such a good leader, SACA made him captain at 21 and everyone raves about his leadership skills and what he does at the Redbacks. He was perfect yesterday just in his tempo- it was a great leadership innings.
Stokes hurt himself during the day. So I can't blame England too much for that.
