Ashes Discussion

Well Neser and Jhye can have a bowl off for the third test. This is exciting AND the batting line up is super strong, they bat to 10 which will help negate Harris being a walking wicket.

Hopefully we can bat them out of the game if we win the toss, not sure we will roll them like we did at the Gabba if they win the toss

Toss is important in a day night test.

If you win the toss you get the opportunity to bat in 4 day sessions out of 6 across the first 2 days and every chance you have your opponent starting their innings in the night session when the ball is turning around corners.

Even if you do happen to get blitzed in the opening 2 sessions you can still have your opponent starting in the first evening session ... like SA did to us a few years back after getting skittled on day 1

Starc & Lyon were at the same venue but sitting outside. **** imagine what the team would have looked like if they were all ruled out

Whole different dynamic now to the bowling attack.

The strength of the attack is they complement each other. They’ve now lost the up hill worker and leader.

When Australia bowl now will be important. They need to maximise the chances of Richardson and Neser getting a kill.

Neser is a like for like replacement for Cummins- busy and late swing to right. He knows Adelaide too from his Strikers days and has an ok record for the Bulls 12 wickets at 33- no where near the Gabba or Hobart.

Richardson has physically improved, he’s bowling a heavier ball now against the Bulls he was bowling that same skiddy style that hurries the batsmen.

Against the Bulls his bouncer and out swing caused problems. He dried the runs up then went bang with a big outswinger- the spell after lunch when he got Labuschagne, Burns and Street was outstanding and he only went for a run an over.

This all seems strange to me. Shouldn’t the team be doing all it can to limit unnecessary contact with the public during these few weeks for this exact reason. That the Australian captain is missing a game because if this is ridiculous.

I daresay they will tighten things up on tha back of this and bring back some form of bubble again.... which wont be good for someone like Sweepo who will get stuck sitting on the pine for the rest of the summer

They will but it will be within reason. No side is interested in being stuck in a bubble. I think it will be more of a case of limiting unnecessary things like going out for dinner. They will still have there freedoms and space but just need to do it a bit smarter.

Neser and Richardson are amazing quality bench warmers, lets be honest because they'd walk into just about any other test side, especially Richardson.

I know I’m about 20-15 minutes late on this but was anyone impressed with the footage early on of how hands on Smith was in the huddle. Looked to be laying down the law. Whilst I don’t necessarily think this team works as well in an intense environment with Cummins being laid back I think it’s good to let the players know that someone will be there to drive the standards and set things straight if you start slacking.

Carey is very well spoken and provides great insight. Impressive listening to him chat to Howie before the game.

He also sounds almost identical to JL which is weird.

Trying to save his career with that review. On another note the Third Umpire sounds an awful lot like Gaz
