Ashes Discussion

Yeah give us a 102 and we win that let alone say 110 they weren’t chasing the runs.

As mentioned earlier, dropped chances cost Australia today. Would have been into the tail much earlier had some of those catches stuck.

Still, what an exciting finish. After wrapping up the series a draw was worth that finish imo. 5-0 would have been nice though.

It really was fantastic. Even my mrs was on the edge of her seat and she doesn’t get into it all.

My daughter came in for the last few overs and was asking questions about the match, it was fun explaining how close it was and she got into it a bit.

I thought this was possibly the match to rest Starc so he can come in fresh for the day nighter at Hobart.

Sydney is typically flat nowadays and seems to be a slog for the bowlers to get the wickets... probably up there with MCG for flat lifeless decks across the country at the moment.

Unsure if Jhye was ready to go though... although we did have Neser there as well who is a swing bowler and a bit of a stump to stump bowler when it's getting older... but if Jhye wasn't ready then Starc probably did have to play.

Boland is probably good enough to carry the attack with Cummins, etc. based on his two tests to date though.

Who do they replace Carey with? I think he deserves a bit more of a go.

Surely Boland and Khawaja have secured spots for the last test. Shirley.

Inglis would be next cab off the rank, but I'd say it's a bit early to be dumping him at the moment. Give him a little more time to build that chemistry with his slip cordon and what not.

They'll take two keepers on the subcontinent tours coming up so his abilities behind the stumps will get a real test over the next few months.

He does. But any more of those pissweak keeping drops and he should go. The keeper runs the cordon. Take charge.

Boland plays for sure given Hazelwood has already been ruled out... question is whether Starc gets a rest and I would say that he looks like he needs one... Jhye is ready to go now as well so I'd say he comes in for Starc.

I would've rested Starc for the Sydney test though... he's more valuable with the pink ball than slogging away on a typically lifeless deck nowadays.

I've wanted Ussie to open since before the series started so no issue from me to see him retain his place and Harris to be dropped

i am serious leslie nielsen GIF

I don’t disagree with any of what you said but just thought to point out that Neser is a seam bowler not a swing bowler. Pretty big differences. Bit more like Scotty but just not as good.

Fair enough thought they flagged him as a swing bowler before the Adelaide test citing it as a reason why he'd bowl well there

Yep Carey is in no danger yet but having Inglis around is good for his development..

I don’t care about the result, I loved the game, it was gripping and I don’t care who wins or loses as long as it’s competitive and fun.

Neser can move it off the seam or in the air or both.

Neser at Bellerive- 3 games, 16 wickets at 17.

6/57 and 2/19 in the second innings was outstanding in a 7 wicket win.

The culprit was the Sydney humidity, held that pitch together, that and the lost 65 overs as @1910 mentioned. I'm happy for Anderson, although he seems a complete twat, it must nice to not be the one nicking off to lose the test.
