Re: Should Ashley Taylor Be Promoted
Munster is a pretty good player who I can see being a regular first grade in the near future, I have watched him and definitely like what I see of him, Hampton, well I don't think he's anything special, just a solid back up player.
All I'm saying is, even the best juniors are not necessarily always going to star if thrown into first grade full time, most of them take a long time to become special first grade players. Not everyone is Karmichael Hunt who can be thrown into first grade at a young age and immediately take on the role like a seasoned first grader.
Taylor by all reports is a special player, but he's signed till next year and he'll get his chance when it comes, I don't think there's sense in throwing Milford to fullback to make way for Taylor when there's no rush. We're not Cronulla desperate for options, we've got stars already in our spine so guys like Taylor will simply have to wait.
You've still misunderstood me. I'm not bagging them for their playing skills, I'm merely using them as an example that not all talented juniors should immediately be thrown into first grade ahead of established first graders, they should simply bide their time until they have a chance at taking the roll full time.Next in line isn't too bad when you're young and waiting for Cronk and Slater to move on. You obviously haven't watched Munster or Hampton this year- they're going very well. Last year Hampton stepped straight in when Cronk broke his arm and you may have noticed the situation is reaching the point where the Storm can't wait for Slater to be injured for Munster to be in the side they're finding him a spot now.
Really Slater is better than Munster- what a bold call! Of course he is.
You're bagging them because they're not as good as one of the best ever and because they're not in first grade permanently yet- that's ignorant. They're not the washed up player who never fulfilled potential they're young and just starting and doing everything right.
