Ashton Sims

It does seem though that when Simsy is on, he is on - the very definition of hot and cold player. He's showed that he really needs a kick up the arse to put in 100% that he needs to be on. If he can keep up this form from tonight, he will be able to add a lot from the bench, something he shouldn't scoff at.

His problem is his work off the ball especially from marker. Every team knows it and go wide pass to the first receiver then hit the fullback on the inside ala Carney last night.

Taylor had that mistake in his game and so does the big no show, its either lack of fitness or interest.

Still, it's something which should be fixed with coaching. We need him in the side so I hope he can work it out.

Sims should have been in the team all along... The whole team has a problem with marker defence it should have been fixed over the off season.

i couldn't believe how many times in that first half where we had no markers at all.

Our marker defense deficiencies were fairly exaggerated this game. I haven't seen any of the Roosters matches to date this year, however last night in a large number of their tackles they seemed to purposely go to ground quite quickly. IMO there were quite a few boarding on surrender tackles. This sort of tactic would upset any team, with or without the deficiencies we have atm.

Was this just a tactic against us, or have the Roosters been doing this all year?

The broncos havent been able to win the ruck once this year, they cant get numbers in tackles to peel off and get to marker, leaving a massive gap up the guts that im sure Brian Smith targetted... They cant get numbers in tackles because they dont move up as a line, theres little communication and they move up as individuals and quite slowly, who then plant their feet leaving them only able to slap at anyone using footwork at the line... They need to have a sliding defense where they are constantly moving and talking...
