Yeah probably wrong but my opinion is based on undoubted love for the great man. He would have been up there anyway. You only have to look what he did with a bunch of nuffies in the IPL.

Warne had a great record with the ODI team and always captained aggressively, very sad the ACB wouldn't pick the best man for the job when they picked Steve Waugh ahead of him, Steve Waugh was a very good cricketer and a good captain but was also very selfish. Can't agree there. Steve Waugh was a very clever captain who always put pressure on the batsmen. Warne wouldn't have been as cool under pressure IMO.

Replace the "good" and "very good" with "great".

Not sure what you mean by very selfish, but i do think Warne would have also been a good captain.

Ponting's response to Warne's criticism of the fields he set for Hauritz was that "they were the fields Hauritz wanted".

WTF! Are you the captain or is Hauritz? If it's not working, and you have a better idea, then change the field! FFS. Hauritz isn't a Shane Warne or Murali, you don't just give him what he wants!

What it demonstrates to me is Ponting doesn't know how to set a field for a spinner.
