Australia tour of UAE (v Pakistan)

I feel like Head’s significant contribution is being forgotten in all this celebration of Khawaja and Paine. Don’t get me wrong, Khawaja and Paine did fantastically well but Head hung in for a LONG time in that heat and in his first test. It wasn’t always convincing but that was a quality knock.

Partnerships were key in that second innings, Finch, Head and Paine were great and all contributed. Big difference between first and second innings.

Something we haven't been great at for a while.

Lyon on a hattie next over, tune in.

3 in 4 balls for Lyon!! Missed the hattie...but by about as little as you can get. Lyon the match changer.

OH MY GOSH!! Lyon 4 wickets in 6 balls!!! He is bowling grenades.

The number 3 debutant has also been dropped in the last few overs, Aussies are bowling seriously well.

Labuschagne pulling the reverse Steve Smith? Being picked as a specialist batsman only to become an elite spinner, that'd be awesome, he's looked considerably more dangerous than Holland so far in both tests.

Shaun Marsh, can we just forget about picking him anymore ?
I mean, seriously [emoji53]

But he scored runs that one time and looked good doing so, so pick him for the next decade.

Piss both Mash brothers off for life honestly, I'm so sick of watching them average 10-20 overseas and then come home and score just enough runs to retain their spots, **** off, you need to score runs everywhere.

When you realise you're a lock for the first test of the Summer

What's it going to take for the Marshes to get dropped? Serious question. I can't believe that Mitch has played 30 test matches...

EDIT: Remember when Smarsh first came into the side averaging about 35 in FC cricket instead of D.Hussey who was averaging 55+?

I still can't believe Dussey never played tests for Aus. SMarsh needs to be dropped, he should have been three years ago.

MMarsh won't be dropped now he is somehow VC.

Should Pucovski be fast-tracked?

This would be my side for the first test in Aus:

1. Finch
2. Renshaw
3. Khawaja
4. Head
5. Lehmann
6. (Really no idea who should go here)
7. Paine (c)
8. Cummins
9. Starc
10. Hazlewood
11. Lyon

Not sure Lehmann has done enough, I'd say Maxwell at 5, with the 6th spot to go to the highest scorer in shield at the time of selecting the first test, ideally someone who can bowl, but at this point we need an extra specialist batsman more than we need a 5th bowler.

If he scores another ton or two before the first test, yes. The Australian selectors usually don't like fast tracking people with actual talent though, so we'll probably have to wait a few years to see him and Pope regardless of their averages.

Lyon has now bowled 20,000 test deliveries without a single front foot no-ball.

GOAT

Think I might agree with Warney, that's pretty much my ideal team at the moment.. Excluding the (c) on Finch which is obviously Warne's Victoria bias, Usman should be captain.
