CRICKET Australia v India Summer

Aussie batters have issues with everything that isn’t fun barrel straight
They still have issues with that... especially if it's a finger spinner that doesnt turn it at all... doubly so if it's a left handed finger spinner

I think we'll appreciate now how good Warner was for us, he had the ability to adapt to the game, he was always aggressive but he had the ability to find that happy medium, instead of trying to flog everything for 6. He would be aggressive in other ways, like his running between the wickets.
I think his biggest shot was just the push through cover that would then just go for four... nothing extravagant, but just super easy runs.

And then he would try to pull something outside off and sky it to mid-wicket

He will handle it but they’ve got to expect low scores too. He’s still developing his game and isn’t finished article. He should have the summer now as an opener.
He's going to be coming up against Bumrah with the new ball.

If he's 10 off 60 I reckon he's done his job as well.... opener needs to be about protecting the middle order and seeing out the new ball as well

I think that 3rd game team is one of the worst lineups I've ever seen for Australia.

Fraser-McChicken is still so underwhelming and all the WA players were awful save for Morris.

Losing a 3 game ODI series on home turf is inexcusable in my opinion, regardless of Test player availability.

It is the worst I have seen.

Only way we were getting a result yesterday was for someone like an Inglis to play a great innings with Stoinis and Maxwell chipping in with him but he himself is still trying to find his way in the Aussie team.

Maxwell has been absolute dog, you can't base your career on having "your day", there has to be more to your game than that.

First Test is here.

McSweeney is obviously a big story, he's done his job if they can get to lunch without a loss. Doesn't matter what the score is. He's great against spin and he needs to get past the opening bowlers to have a crack at spin. His defence is shaky and Bumrah is not who you want to face if you can't defend. He reminds me a bit of Geoff Marsh- no bullshit opener that will bat for three hours and get 37. He also holds Smith and Labuschagne summer in his hands. Fun fact he's the 170th opener for Australia.

I think Carey is the star of this series, he's going to be vital batting. He's the most in form at the moment and there will be a collapse at some time and he's going to have to get us to 170. If he can get 30-40 every test and at a good clip his runs are going to be vital.

Truth is if Australia can't get 400-450 you don't win in Australia. That's the Test this summer to get scores that give them hope of winning.

I expect it to be a bowler dominated series. Excited to see how McSweeney goes. Certainly a big test with Bumrah charging in.
Expecting Starc to take a lot of wickets and Travis Head to go large with the bat a few times.

All depends on the pitches, but neither sides batters seem to be in any form what so ever with the bat so you might be spot on the money there.

They have Jaiswal, Pant and Jadeja who are all batting well. Sarfaraz also scored 150 like three innings ago. Jaiswal is amazing.

Albo has picked well with Anderson, I liked his OD debut for NSW, see how he goes in a two day game.

I’m just excited to get some competitive cricket (hopefully). Always very one way with everyone else who tours.

Yep if India can make him play it on the front foot they will be in the game against McSweeney. Thing that makes him stand out from others is his ability to just stay in without scoring runs, he gives himself a chance to be there when it gets easier. He has a great leave so if India don’t make him play it they will let him get into the series and like you said he is the key to unlock Labuschagne and Smith and consequently Heady and Marsh with there freedom. I back him to find some success this series but it will without a doubt be a bit inconsistent but that’s to be expected. I am backing him in for a 100 at some stage in the first 3 tests. Adelaide and Gabba are great venues to build up confidence for him.

India are just not trying to score...at all. You've got to at least put some pressure back on the bowlers.

They just don’t have the same class as they have on previous tours. To compound that Sharma and Gill out this game complicates things some more. Padikkal and Jurel are free wickets I feel. Rahul seems a bit bogged down but he is a good enough bat to punish you with a start. Rahul, Pant, Kohli and the fact they bat deepish with Sundar and Reddy is really there only chance. I just think there side is lacking quality here. They are gonna need some players to stand up and Aus not to be up to scratch to be in this I feel.

Edit: Jaiswal was a huge wicket in the context of the omissions in the side.
