CRICKET Australia v India Summer

I tell you what though, if anyone should be skipping the queue, it should be Connolly. This kid is one of the classiest lefties I’ve ever seen and he’s clearly got gears he can go through. He’s destructive through pure elegance.

Some left arm tweekers in there as well.

Could be a number 6 when Green is back.

I wouldn't say they've given up as much as Konstas has skipped the cue. I don't follow cricket as closely as you guys but from the outside in it seems like the average age of a Shield player is late 20s. So a lot of that generation has yet to emerge yet and players like your McSweeneys, Davies, Goodwins etc. have only just entered the conversation.

McSweeney won the race on this occasion, but you get the feeling had Davies or Goodwin played a great innings they could have been there.

If they go Konstas, Anderson and continue to pick from there I'd be asking some serious questions. Right now, it seems like the exception that proves the rule.

You know what is interesting is that Konstas can clearly bat but he wasn’t even actually the stand out at under 19 level when Aus won the cup, Dixon was and I’m surprised he isn’t even getting state games. Is he injured?

Ideal because he bowls well enough and turns it away from the right handed. Could be very handy moving forward.

There’s no possible way he could be worse than Marsh. England are picking young blokes like Connolly, so why not?

SL looms as the perfect spot to bring a young spinning all rounder in to the side. So let’s hope the selectors see reason.

Seems to love the moment too- anyone making their debut in a Shield Final and hitting their first two balls for boundaries, then getting to 90 and dropping back down a few gears to be aware enough to make stumps has good awareness. Martin Love was the last player I can remember that made his debut in a Final.

Take him on tour just to win trophies- 8 one day games for WA, one day final win, four Shield games, one Shield Final win, 20 T20 one final win.

That's 32 games and three trophies, one every 10 games.

Youngest debut for Australia.

17 years 239 days- Ian Craig
18 years 193 days- Pat Cummins
18 years 232 days- Tom Garnett
19 years 85 days- Sam Konstas
19 years 96 days- Clem Hill

I knew Cummins was among the youngest, didn't know there was actually someone younger than his debut.

Also, Konstas is the youngest ever test opener. The last one was the great mystery that was Archie Jackson who many believed was as good as Bradman but died extremely young due to TB.

An additional fact, he died in Brisbane and his body was taken back to Sydney on the same train as the Australian and English Ashes teams. Oof
