Yeah but if he hit those 2 balls donw the ground better anything could have happened

He will always be a hit and miss player IMO. if his style of batting comes off 1/5 innings he would have to be happy IMO..

Yeah to go from park cricket to the grey and gold (lol) and have a decent score on debut. Put him in ODI team yeah he could be hit and miss but so was Gilly at the top of the order

White is a good batsman but totally crapulent bowler. Good move not bowling him in either game.

I hope they pick him in the one day squad... Rumours are that Clarke is injured and may miss a few one dayers so the selectors may pick Warner..

This is what I don't understand, he hasn't come from park cricket he has been playing one-dayers and 20/20's for NSW for 2 years now, just not Shield cricket thus they are able to say he hasn't played first-class cricket.

Yes I to would like to see him in the one day side to see how he goes

Warner's been put in to the ODI squad for the first match as a cover for Clarke, pending an assessment on his injured thumb.

Ryan Harris is in as well to replace Peter Siddle, who's been carrying a foot injury. Siddle should be back for the series against the ram rooters.

Hussey's hussies were prolly the highlight of the night.

Onto Warner; lolz, I amongst others have raised a quizzable eyebrow at the mentioning of Warne's name for a possible selector's spot, however after his "Warner must go on Ashes tour" I now must lolz at what I was thinking. The poor guy hits one decent innings in a very different form of the game and people are calling for his tour dates. knee jerk much?

After watching more T20 in recent times this is what I think needs to happen for the game to flourish;

- ACB needs to except it's here to stay. They need to appoint selectors, solely for T20 (maybe ODI/T20). These selectors work totally independent of the Test selectors, since the games are so different anyways. Rugby Union selectors don't select Rugby 7's teams do they?

- The ICC (or whoever is actually running T20 at an international level, if indeed there even is such a board) needs to change T20 to 3 over's max per bowler. This creates position for TRUE all rounder's. In fact, after that is trialled, I would like to see a few exhibition games where it's 2 over's max. This means everyone, except the keeper must bowl. That would truly turn the game on it's head, as "specialists" would exist in the format, only all rounder's. This in turn would breed a whole generation of T20 cricketers. Wouls also breed the best fielder's ever.

- Once the above happens, the ACB, ECC, SACB, NZCB, Windies, etc can drop their war on IPL and T20 in general, as not very many Test players would even be suited to the T20 format. Then T20 can truly excel in the other countries. The quicker the ACB gets over itself and moves on with life (*cough* Bradmanesque much *cough*), lets State T20 sides tour India, the MORE dominant Aussie will be in T20.

I want to see a "Super 14's" style format of T20. Teams from Aus, SA, NZ, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, (lolz) Bangladesh all qualifying to be relegated to the top International comp, played all through the Southern Hemisphere. England will have to work out some way of getting down here or they can help Stanton bring the game to North America through Canada and the Windies.

The potential here is massive, T20 just needs to break down some barriers being held up by old men who fear change. I understand the fear of having whole generations of youth playing T20 instead of pursuing the Test career's, but guess what? Make Test cricket more attractive and kids will still inspire to play it above all else.

I don't want to see many more T20's unless it's Australia v India v Sri Lanka, as those countries are the only real countries with big T20 experience. Everyone else is at a disadvantage. I'd rather watch Australia v Queensland, than watch Australia v SA. Amla was a perfect example last night, great batsman, but just didn’t get the format.

99% of kids who play cricket would say "one day I want a baggy green cap". While they might also say "and it'd be hell cool to play T20 at the MCG", the baggy green would be their first priority and always will be.

But I also was thinking last night about the 2 over rule for bowlers. It'd certainly change the game and make it more unique from the other forms of the game.

I'd also like to see them impose run penalties for slow overrates. So if you go overtime by more than say 5 minutes, you get penalised 1 run a minute from then on. So like last night, South Africa ran about 20 minutes overtime, that'd be 15 runs onto Australia's total.

If Australia had been slow with their overrates, South Africa would have had bonus runs onto their total.

I played a game of 20/20 in the army and we used the 2overs each bowler (only our side did it, cheating buggers) and it made it interesting because you always have a nuffy bowler or two ie Cameron White

I finally got to sit down and watch an entire game of cricket last night (albeit only a 4 hour game but thats besides the point).

Loved it!! I love all forms of cricket but I must say, 20/20 is probably my favorite at the moment considering I am night time - time poor.

And Mr Cricket is back.... and I am sooo happy about it _woohoo_

Yeah, Hussey plays better when he stops worrying about averages and such. He's been painful to watch at Test level lately. So worried about not getting out he's forgetting to actually score runs. His obsession with cricket and stats is his downfall.

I noticed it at the time, but even after watching a million replays throughout the course of today I don't think it hit him in the eyes once.

He would have dropped that catch no matter what, and the Proteas agree.

Still a poor effort though. Lasers amuse cats and morons.
