CRICKET Australian tour of Pakistan

Call me conservative but imo, we bat ourselves to a position where losing the test is all but impossible and go from there. If we set them something 'sporting' it could blow up in our faces if the ball decides not to 'reverse' for us - which could very well be the case, given it is a very weird and erratic science. The pitch itself doesn't appear to have too many gremlins in, yet.

Posting an unreachable target would also enable Pat to basically set attacking fields for the entire 4th innings.

Yep, definitely nothing 'sporting', Pakistan scored their runs so slowly in their first innings they don't deserve a chance to win this game.

Smith goneskis and you know this may not be the worst thing. 340 ahead, it is sort of in a situation where it is hard to know what to do now whether to keep plugging along a while longer or go the tonk.

Admittedly from a graphic they showed yesterday I think the highest ever final innings score to win a test at this ground was something like 203.

Good declaration I say

Yeah, we might lose.. but that's the only way to get Pakistan to play a few shots, otherwise they'll deadbat for the best part of 3 and a half sessions

This is looking all too easy so far, they will hope this ball reverses pretty early.

Look I know Carey's batting has been decent the last two tests but his keeping continues to be really poor. How often does he drop / miss / not even go for a fielder's return throw? How often doe he drop or just miss the ball from the spinner? How often does he just let edges go and not even go for them? I would argue Wade is a better keeper and that says a lot.

Smith needs to stand still at slip, he premeditates and goes the wrong way every time. That should’ve been taken and he barely got a touch on it.
