RUMOUR Bellamy - 10 Year Deal

I am so envious of the Storm system, I would also do a 10 year deal if it means getting Bellamy on board.

Let's not forget that for all the arguments that he has Smith his whole career, let's not forget he also enabled Smith to become as good as he has become by being such a good coach.

Let's also not forget that he has managed to lose Cronk, Inglis and Slater over the years and still kept that side among the top 4 year in, year out and GFs in 4 of the last 5 years despite generational change.

On top of that, he has managed to identify gun, although different, replacements in all the key positions through talent identification and excellent coaching noir - lose Slater, replace with Paps. Lose Cronk - replace with Munster and Hughes.

He also hasn't been afriad to make tough calls and they are 99% of the time the correct ones too.

Croft is the junior Australian halfback, sorry kid you aren't good enough, see ya later. Reputations / lower grade exploits mean nothing.

Hughes is gunning at fullback, be willing to let go Drinkwater. Paps comes in, looks potentially elite, swap Hughes to halfback. Hughes becomes the most underrated gun halfback in the game.

Insert journeyman prop / second-rower here and bring through another gun kid in the process. Insert average centre here and turn them into a weapon.

Have Smith staring down the end, have the two best young hookers in the game coming through in reserve.

Their system is beautiful.

And he has standards that he refuses to compromise and no player is bigger than the club, like legit. No player holds the club to ransom or otherwise, they they ship out or sign two contracts.

And he's willing to **** off big name players once they decline. Chambers declined, see you later, Hoffman, see you later too.

He's a phenomenal roster manager.

It's absolutely mind boggling for ANYONE out there that knows and understands rugby league NOT wanting Craig Bellamy at our club.

It truly is. I don't care if he's labeled a cheater or whatever. Call him whatever you like. What he is is the greatest and most successful rugby league coach in the last 10-15 years.

It's almost guaranteed that he will bring success to our club. Don't we want to be successful again?

It’s an interesting topic about what it is exactly you support when you support a team. It’s not the players because teams will have a turn over of 80+ % every couple of years and once a player joins another club you no longer support them like you do your team’s players. It’s not the coach because the average life expectancy of most coaches is very short and when they leave and a new coach comes with new players and new philosophies and culture you still support the club.

Hypothetically If we sign Storms CEO, Storms Coach, and Storms Captain and implement the Storms systems and procedures, why is it different than if you just swapped over to support the storm a few years back?

Brisbane and this board is a bit unique because most of you are from Brisbane; but most NRL fans don’t live in the area of the team they support. I’ve never lived in Brisbane, in fact I’ve never even lived in QLD. It was just the team and state I decided to support when I first joined minor league in the mid 90s. Me and my family had no concept of league or the broncos history, I just liked the colours and the mascot. But I’ve never once considered swapping teams.

it’s just funny because I’ve hated Cam and Bellamy ever since the cheating scandal and I would love having their success at our club and hope it happens but for some reason it would feel weird having such a strong Storm influence. It would almost be the same feeling of when using a cheat code in a game, you get more success but you don’t feel like you earned it. I don’t know, just an existential footy rant.

Guaranteed? I beg to differ. There's question marks on whether it will even work out.

He's going to be a glorified mentor with a hand in recruitment and retention but ultimately Kevvie is going to be the one that makes the calls and he's going to coach his way.

I agree, but at the same time, how much combined success, finals and grand finals experience will that bring, and the club, coaching, the players, can only benefit from that big time.

He is a bloody sook! With Kent and up his arse like the human centipede, are there any unbiased commentators or talkshow hosts on TV? Can there be one started up? Maybe hosts from the NT and WA... Huge can you fund it? you're a millionaire aren't you? But no guest appearances from Gallon or Flannagan!😉
Who isn't these days?

A 'bit' unique? A bit 'one of a kind'?

Really? You believe there's degrees of uniqueness?
Yes, things can be less unique or almost unique for example 2 or 3 of a kind but things can not be ‘more’ or ‘so’ unique because nothing can be unique past the point of one of a kind.

Now of course it you are using it in the strict mathematical sense the meaning becomes more rigid and can only mean one of a kind, but if you have a capacity to understand context you will notice that it was being used conversationally.

No, we have a word which has a specific meaning and that is 'one of a kind'. We have words which describe rare or unusual and we use them for that purpose. Something cannot be a bit unique, it either is or isn't. It's misused daily nowadays.
