I can't recall a dominant performance from Hodges at centre. Even Tate has had man of the match performances or close to it.

Hodges has been decidedly average at that level.

Hodges has had moments yes but I think has found it hard because (I may be wrong here) he usually has been marked by Matt Cooper and that makes life difficult for anyone to look brilliant.

Nah, IMO the difference is, not the player not rising to the occasion, but the fact that the oppostion is all elite as well. Slater is a perfect example...at club level he can find space to run, however in SoO, the tired chasers aren't there.
