Big man a big winner from Kahu injury

JORDAN Kahu’s scans have come back with some positive news for the international centre.

It was feared Kahu had a badly-torn quadriceps muscle after coming off early in the 17-4 victory over the Parramatta Eels last Thursday.
And while he does indeed have a torn quad, it has been judged only a grade-one injury.
The first fears were Kahu could be out for at least a month, but after scans Broncos’ medical staff have revised it to a two to four-week injury.
He is still certain to miss this Friday’s home season opener at Suncorp Stadium against the New Zealand Warriors.
Coach Wayne Bennett will name his replacement tomorrow, with regular second rower Alex Glenn firming to be in the number four jersey.
Glenn filled in there when Kahu went off against the Eels, and did a nice job including setting up winger Corey Oates for a try (see video).
Grand final centre Jack Reed is still out as his recovery from an off-season shoulder surgery continues.
There were no reports of other injuries for the Broncos, including those that played Queensland Cup over the weekend.

i made the trip to south v hunters on the weekend.
well what i can say is that the png boys hit like mack trucks, the impact and collision was really good for a cup game.
anyway onto the game, eseese was really strong and had some good carries and off loads early on. he got spear tackled late in the first half and hurt his arm which seemed to slow him down. he did play on and came back in the second half so hopefully its not too bad. he was a class above playing cup so i reckon he is ready to go.
timu was quiet in the first half, but man oh man was he good in the 2nd half. some big tackles and incredible footwork cause all sorts of havoc. he will only get better as each game goes.
scarlett has been let go by the broncos but he was in everything, he is very very good and could be required later on if needed in a worst case scenario.
boyce was solid as always and got through his work well.
surprisingly for me was how good travis waddell went, i have never been a huge wrap but his defense and dummy half work was nothing short of excellent. he was a real surprise for mine.

There is a story on NRL.com saying Timu not Ese'ese is likely to come in.

im not sure if this is the best place to post this but i went and watched souths v redcliffe today. i think there were 10 broncos in action across the 2 teams.
for redcliffe opacic scored a couple and was really safe, he also saved 2 tries as well. poor old whitchurch bought his feet instead of his hands again today. i am actually starting to feel sorry for this guy. the halfback was very average (i think his name is nicholls) pearson was just ok, but nothing flash.
as for souths, waddell led the way again and was really tough and directed well. timu's foorwork was really good again on a wet track, he is ready and waiting. scored a good try and set another up.
eseese was sensational today, his ball carries in the second half were sensational. late in the game he broke from 30 out and was only stopped at the opposition 20. this guy is a beast.
scarlett was really good again, busy and cause havoc all afternoon.
seve was fair at best, isaako scored a good try but doesnt get involved enough.
joe boyce got injured and only played limited minutes today, some sort of arm problem.
