Bon Jovi's 'Our House' to be new anthem for the NRL

this, however, is not a good song. it doesnt even suit rugby league, its too slow and plodding - like the sport it was written for, American Football.

OK, I've listened to it now

You're all right about one thing - that song really does suck

First thought was - this does not suit league, it's too slow

Seriously, does anybody TRULY think any song song by anybody will make a crap load of difference to the supporter base?

I mean was anybody here introduced to the league, or came to love the league, because of a friggen song?

Tina turner's campaign did bring in new fans, yes. The game itself kept them.
yep i was one.... icon_thumbs_u

There ya go!

It's why I shake my head when people say "a song can't attract people" or "as if an ad is going to make someone buy such and such product"...if it didn't work, advertisers wouldn't do it. They do it to hook you into trying something, and then bank on the quality of the product to keep you using it.

Also, while the song (our house) is boring and repetitive if you listen to the whole thing, I imagine that well paid Advertisers with the right snippits of this song married up to some spectacular rugby league footage will be able to make a pretty catchy advertisement!

It won't be slow motion. It will be footage of John Bon Jovi trying to walk from one side of the stage to the other in real time.

Useless old turd.

Hey dude, i never said advertising doesn't work, it clearly does!

But I certainly did doubt the particular type of advertising of a theme song bringing in new sports fans. Note though I was happy to be corrected and now have been icon_thumbs_u

That was shit, could have been soooo much better.

Solid, better than I expected.

I can understand the lack of Broncos footage - not a top 8 side and their most exciting player last season is playing for GWS. I suppose they could have done something with Hoffman but what?

Doesn't really get me pumped when I listen to that.
Don't like it tbh.

Agreed. They'll never be able to please all parties.

The majority of the complaints each year centre on a disproportionate amount of exposure among the clubs. How petty do people want to get? Every team is featured at least once and at the end of the day it comes down to 5 v 3 seconds of footage.

They're marketing the game, not an individual club.

I don't mind it I suppose. Still no where near as good as the Simply the Best campaign, but I like the song so much better than That's my Team.

I just wonder if we love the Tina Turner one so much because that was 92/93 whenthe Broncos were the epicest of the epic?

The Tina Turner campaigns existed before 1992 and 1993 and I loved them before the Broncos premierships, infact the campaigns were a critical element to the success of the Codes developement during the 80's and 90's, I know a lot of people who didn't follow the code then started to because of them. Oh and as for it being a problem with pleasing everybody because of not being able to expose every club equally in the commercials, how many times do you honestly think a club like the Gold Coast Giants featured in the late 80's commercials? [icon_lol1. The Tina Turner compaigns did so well because they were songs that really drew people in(not just a bland song by a big name star) and didn't focus just solely on the field action, but also the fans and players who really represented the code in off the field situations not to mention having Turner and then later Barnes involved in the campaigns.

For example

What you get is what you see - 1989 campaign:

Simply the Best - 1990

It's an improvement over recent efforts I'll give that, but IMO it still falls well short of what we should be aiming for and thats my concern.

It's an improvement on, Blow that whistle ref.

It came on the tele when I was at the gym this morning. This is the first time I'd seen it. It didn't have any sound but it looked good to me

I really like that ad.
It reminds me of the NBC intro to the NFL. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlObQC5jsWs&feature=related
Actually, I would like to see them take another cue from that video and have the stars of the teams in their playing gear in the streets of their towns, like where you see Eli in Times Square and the Saints walking down Bourbon St. Titans coming down a packed Cavill Ave, Storm walking along the riverbanks as those big flame towers at Crown Casino erupt, the Eels high fiving their fans outside the Centrelink office. It would look sweet as.

I had a look at the 2 Tina Turner promos from years back (thanks for the links!) and they are OK, but would not say they are the be all and end all

For my taste, I saw far too much of Tina Turner and not enough league

I think the new promo is OK too - not much worse than Tina's efforts, although I still think the song is a little slow
