COMBAT Boxing / MMA Thread

agreed. fun as hell card. Go Hunt, that was awesome. But Wandy/Stann was an epic encounter.

Caught UFC 157 yesterday, Rousey wins by her signature armbar on Carmouche, although Carmouche did make her work for it, if only Carmouche had sunk in that standing rear naked choke better it could have been a different story...

Lyotos fight with Hendo was boring,,Bones to put Lyoto to sleep again

Very hard to keep track the ufc , can you tell me when bones last fights were and when is his next please

His last fight was with Machida I believe, ages ago, he was meant to fight Henderson about 3 months ago, but he pulled out. His next fight is with Chael Sonnen and that will be in about 6 weeks.

Anyone catch UFC160 yesterday? Mark Hunt and Te Huna both notched up losses.. Te Huna got outclassed on the ground, that Teixeira is pretty good pulling guard and choking Te Huna out.

Dos Santos's spinning kick looked identical to Vitors one a week before on UFC on Fox, was hard seeing Hunt go down like that, but JDS landed more blows too often, Hunt ate them up but was falling way behind on points.
that 1st round overhand that put Hunt on the ground but getting up straight away wouldve K.Oed any other heavyweight (like Velasquez) Great fight in the end and JDS looks primed for Velasquez

Bigfoot didnt last the 1st round and walked straight into that right of Velasquez, went down and as you know Cains GnP is unforgiving...

great fight night all round

Good to see Rob Whitaker get a win especially against Colton Smith who looked a class above on TUF (although rather classless in his first fight).

Cigano knocking out Hunt is amazing. Well done to Cigano. Cain/Cigano III will be epic.

Didnt watch it but UFC162 the end of the Spiders reign? Silva got careless and Weidman end up catching him with a left in round 2 goodnight irene..sounds like Silvas lost his hunger after that bout, but probably more embarassed as to how he lost.

That was shattering. Without Spider, I'm way less interested in MMA. All the champions now besides Jose Aldo are wrestlers. I fkn hate wrestlers.

his showboating/taunting was always going to be his downfall.

finally found a normal speed video of the knockout!

so good seeing him taunting while dodging, doing his little wiggle then bang, lights out lol.

if he was a shit fighter, it would have been funny, but to see the Greatest of all time end his 7 year title reign this way is very upsetting. Not only that, but the only champion that tries to win by KO or sub, not by points decision.

thats what you get when you dont show respect for your opponent though. silva should know better.

UFC163 done and dusted, Aldo wins vs the Korean Zombie in the 4th, but should he have stepped back knowing KZ badly injured his shoulder? its a combat sport and I dont think theres anything in the rulebook about it..Aldo injured his foot which was why he kept to the jab

MMA is the one sport in the world where u do what u gotta do to win (within the rules), you can;t have sympathy.

MMA is starting to really annoy me. The fact that Davis won that fight against Machida is bullshit. Takedowns mean too much.

Good to see Perosh get a 14 second KO victory.

watched some of the UFC On Fox today just by chance didnt know it was on, good fight from Travis Browne, while I dont really rate him, he beat The Reem too easy (Reem looked mighty smaller than usual...roids? peds?) & then Sonnen submitting Shogun was a surprise, Sonnen was always gonna dominate on the ground and the punches landed showed that, showed some balls going for the sub and pulled it off..

Sonnen beat Shogun? wtf. I didnt watch, I'm losing interest tbh.

watched UFC166, one of the better cards in a while, Sanchez vs Melendez was frickn epic, those two just stood in front of each other and banged it out no self preservation..

Cain Velasquez had JDS pretty much sussed out from the get go, take any chance of trying to setup his haymakers and your half way there to winning, bloody fight though JDS's right eye was pouring blood whilst the other was swollen shut by the end of the 4th. Wierd kinda TKO JDS knocks the top of his head on the canvas trying to submit Cain and gets dazed and Cain pounces on him for the win

I wonder if he still thinks Cain hits like a girl

Was annoying to watch I hate dirty boxing, it's so boring and thats what Cain did all fight. Good luck to him and its a great strategy but it bores me.

But what annoyed me more is Sotiropoulos continuing to think hes a boxer. Hes mediocre at striking and in the ultra upper echelon MMA Jiu Jitsu. Yet one takedown attempt all fight. I know Noons has good Takedown D, but you gotta play to your strengths.

Also shit to see Daniel Bore me aye win.

Good to see Hector Lombard win at least.

yeah good strategy on Cains part, its like watching one of the Klitchko's just jab all night, boring but effective.. i dont mind dirty boxing when you're on the cage, but 5 constant rounds of it is overkill

Great fight Night last night, Mark Hunt vs Silva was EPIC! Hunt looked a lil sloppy to me at times, way too casual but I guess he was gassed out big time, surprised Bigfoot gassed aswell I would have thought he had better cardio..they definately deserved the 'Fight Of The Night' bonus..

As for Te Huna, devastating KO loss at the hands of Legendary Shogun Rua, got caught early and was lights out
